Take Me Back to the Old Landmark is a tribute to the the old style Call and Response African American spirituals. A number of these spirituals are affectionately labeled within the African-American Church as Old Dr. Watts hymns. Old Dr. Watts hymns are sung in a slow, ornamental style, with each line being lined out by a leader before it is sung by the congregation. Old Dr. Watts refers to Isaac Watts, an early 19th century English composer. Although these type hymns are fading from use in modern church services, Old Dr. Watts hymns enjoy a special place in the hearts of the African-American church. Mourners Bench Records through its upcoming release Take Me Back to the Old Landmark hopes to preserve this part of the African-American heritage for future generations.

Tonight live on Feb 20th, let's discuss old beliefs vs new beliefs or listen in when you can. Many of the beliefs that we believe and or live by no longer serve us in this lifetime. Each of us should ask ourselves, what beliefs serve us now?
Not all beliefs serve all of us. Our ancestors beliefs were good for them at the time that they lived. It is now time to let go and move forward embracing beliefs that serve us now in the present. Also, know and understand that your beliefs may or may not be good for me.
You are invited to call in and talk about your beliefs. We learn from each other and this is a belief that grows and changed each moment. No judgement, but understanding in a life where there are many cultures and ideas.

Old Covenant: If the letter of the law was obeyed, a person could worship God through an earth-based tabernacle.
Hebrews 9:13 (KJV) For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
Galatians 3:12 (KJV) And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
Leviticus 18:5 (KJV) Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:16 (KJV) Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
New Covenant: Those who obey spiritually have one-on-one acess to worship God through Christ Jesus.
John 4:23-24 (KJV) But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Matthew 9:14-17 (KJV) Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not? And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast. No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.
Join Momma Starr, Katie, and the crew at the Old Style Conjure Radio show. Our next show will talk about loving, healing, and building yourself from the inside out so you will draw true love that mirrors already the love you'll learn to have for yourself. Have your paper pads and writing utensils ready to take plenty of notes because lots of info will be shared. When most folks think of love and love work they jump too quick to 'fixing' someone.
Sometimes you might need a little 'fix' here and there but if you want to draw REAL lasting love outside the fairy tales the first person you have to put the fix on is yourself! You have to love and accept yourself for who you are before you can love someone else. How can you expect someone to give something that you don't have for yourself? In the OSC show we will discuss how to love and heal yourself from the inside, build your own mountain of self-esteem, and uncover the mustard seeds of power that God already planted in your spirit so your seeds of faith and self-confidence will spread and grow into a strong powerful tree of total success.
On Thursday January 29th, 2015 the Hermetic Hour with host Poke Runyon
will present a discussion and review on a newly published collection of
Old Testament pseudepigrapha (apocryphal works) edited by Bauckham,
Davila and Panayotov from Erdmans. What makes this 800 page doorstopper
of particular interest to us is "The Legend of Melchizedek" and
Solomon's Hygromancy which is very similar to the medieval Greater Key
of Solomon and may be a later version of the Key's original source. Poke
will be joined by Biblical scholar Frater Solomon who first discovered
this very interesting publication and brought it to our attention. So if
you want to hear about some strange old magical manuscripts that have
just come to light, tune in and we'll delve into this collection.
