Spencer Hall, Editorial Director at SB Nation and Editor at Every Day Should Be Saturday, gives us his thoughts on how to deal with the college football offseason (playoff hockey is your friend), makes ill-advised predictions with us about the 2015 season (sorry, teams we have inevitably over or underrated), and plays a thrilling trivia game we call Florida or Tennessee? It ends with him doubting everything he knows, which is nice.

Marcus Spencer’s (Big Spence) quintessential upbringing started in Oakland, CA. He grew up in Oakland as well as Richmond, two northern California urban cities with many roads to take (the majority being bad).
Big Spence was the third of six boys from his mom. He became a “ward of the court” at a young age before his grandmother (who sacrificed so much for him) took him in. He spent little time with his mother (the last 2-years of high school) and during her last days (7 months) where Marcus took care of his mother and those last days stretched into years (7 to be exact). He knows the price of sacrifice as well, when he did not take a football scholarship as he was responsible to his mother and younger brother.
He knew it wasn’t the right time for that however he did continue his schooling by attending a Junior College at that time Marcus chose not to smoke, drink alcohol or take any drugs, not even experimentally as a matter of fact he was an advocate against it. He had seen the effects first hand and came up with the concept “why try something that you could get addicted to.” He has 32 paternal brothers and sisters. His father (with whom he had an estranged relationship at best) passed away when he was 18. His mother passed away four years later. At that time, on his own with no mother and no father, what he did have was a “praying grandmother.”
At 22 years old he took in his 14 year old brother (who is 19 now). Out of all that adversity that he was exposed to growing up, it is essential to know that he saw bad many people go down easier, more dangerous roads but Big Spence chose the road less traveled.

"I miss my best friend!"
"This was not supposed to happen!"
"But I prayed for his healing!"
"I can't do this alone!"
Daily, I force myself out of bed to just be reminded that I'm only making coffee for one. I never saw this coming."
"I feel like I'm walking in the shadow of what used to be, and I'm torn because I know I need to accept the life God has for me now...but I can't!"
These are just a few thoughts pulled from several blog written by Christian widows who are fighting daily to fully accept the fact that their lifetime partner is no longer with them. "Till Death do we part" is easy for one to say until they are faced with that grim reality. Join me on "Reflections With Lynne" Tuesday February 24, as my guest former First Lady Mrs. Deborah Spencer, and I have a heart to heart on this sensitive topic of life as a widow. "Life Without Him - When God Calls Him Home". Psalms 30:5 tells us "Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning". First Lady Spencer is trusting God that healing will come when the sun rises in her morning.

Chick Cashman is a great guitarist, song writer, film and documentary director, events coordinator hailing from Tucson Az. with time in Los Angeles CA, New York and Europe. Chick is a frequent guest on albums from around the world. Chick was featured as a prime player in my book 'Lipstick Legends,' and is a frequent performer in Tucson at the Congress Hotel and all the other happening venues and theaters.
"He has worked with the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The Friends of Dean Martin and Angie Bowie. His Film scores include Glenn O’ Brien’s TV Party and Star Pets. However, for several years in the 1990’s he transformed into the cross dressing Mr. Chick Cashman the Swingin’ Cowboy. He and his crack band The Countrypoltians were hosts to humorously popular weekly burlesque/ variety show at Club Congress. What started out innocently enough became Tucson’s own Sodom and Gomorah–drag queens, GoGo dancers, foul mouth comics and even a few animal acts were not uncommon. In between these acts the band would play trashy instrumental music—a ‘cross’ between Link Wray and the NY Dolls. Cashman prided himself on including many local musicians as well as national touring acts to perform on his show. Chick has been tight-lipped on his plans for the evening, but he has hinted that the performance will make the old variety show appear more like the Lawrence Welk show in contrast. Chick Cashman, like Clif Taylor, is a Capricorn."
