Special guest for N the Queue this episode is the sought after special effects (FX) artist and actor Tom Woodruff Jr.
Tom Woodruff Jr started his interest in movies and monsters at an early age, having watched late-might broadcasts of monster movies, effects by Ray Harryhausen. Interest in special effects or the craft of makeup became his focus after having seen Planet of the Apes in a theater when he was 13 years old.
In 1982, Tom moved to Los Angeles. He joined Stan Winston's team on the hit movie Terminator. At that point, Tom became a key ccordinator under Winston, with the opportunity to work on features such as Aliens and Predator, as well as television shows such as Amazing Stories. During that time, Tom began wearing the make-up and costumes the studio designed. His ability to perform as an actor, his strength, and build led to his portraying the title characters in movies such as Monster Squad, Pumpkinhead, and Leviathan.
Eventually, Tom formed Amalgamated Dynamaics with Alec Gillis. They worked on projects such as Death Becomes Her, Alien3, and Starship Troopers, Spiderman, Wolverine, X-Men First Class. They received multiple Academy Award nominations, having won for Death Becomes Her.
Tom has also played lead characters in features such as Aliens Vs Predator, Scary Movie 3, Looney Tunes-Back in Action, Evolution, Hollow Man, Alien Resurection, Alien3, Jumanji, The X-files Feature, and more.
