I'll recap the Open Championship, talk some MLB, and other sports news if it comes up. I will also get into some NFL topics that will get you excited for football season
John in CT and Mike in North NJ re-join Dave to talk the Open Championship. Rory McIlroy wins in big fashion at Royal Liverpool, even with two great rounds from runners up Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia. How big of a win is this for Rory and does it finally put him back as one of the greats of the game? What did Rory do to accumulate two rounds at 66 strokes each? How'd he handle the pressure of two capable opponents on the final round? We'll cover this plus the rest of the Open Championship field PLUS more on the NBA's offseason. Junkie is unavailable for tonight's program, but will return next week.
On this episode of FSP, Vic and Jerry tackel the NFC South; Falcons, Panthers, Bucs, or Saints, who wins the south and who disappoints? Golf is also on tap and who will win the Open Championship? Odds makers use to have Tiger vs the field. This is no longer the case and if Tiger doesn't win this one, he falls off pace of the Golden bear Jack Nicholis's pace for most majors won. Pac vs Bradley 2 is coming up and the topic of "Can Pac avenge the loss that most fight fans say he won the first time?" We'll discuss that and more on this edition of FSP.
It's a slow time in the world of sports but that's ok because I got you covered on the hot topics

Erislandy Lara fought an intelligent fight Saturday night, frustrating Canelo Alvarez with his quickness, movement, longer reach and his seeming ease at slipping punches.
But in the end Alvarez's body work won over at least one of the judges decisively as he came away with a split decision victory in a 12-round light middleweight bout at the sold-out MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Judge Levi Martinez scored it 117-111 for Alvarez, while Jerry Roth scored it 115-113 for Lara and Dave Moretti had it 115-113 for Alvarez.
Lara landed 10 more total punches than Alvarez, but Alvarez was well ahead on power punches, landing most of them to Lara's body.
Canelo, the 23-year-old Mexican superstar, is 44-1-1 with 31 KOs, and Lara, 31, who defected twice from Cuba, is 19-2-2 with 12 KOs.
Lara said he was "100% sure" he won the fight and asked for a rematch.
"I still have no respect for him," he said. "I want a rematch. I will do the same and I will win again."
Alvarez said he would give Lara a rematch "when he learns to fight."
Alvarez earned $1.5 million and Lara $1 million for the fight. Lara's WBA light middleweight title was not up for grabs in the non-title fight, which was contracted at 155 pounds, one pound over the 154-pound limit.
