    Radio Angola (RA): Tivemos o privilégio de conversar com jovem acadêmico, pesquisador independente e activista cívico,Joao Lernardo De Sousa, para falar sobre a detenção de 13-20 jovens activistas detidos no sábado, 20, na Vila Alice quando participavam num encontro regular.  Os jovens activistas foram detidos por participar num encontro/palestra no bairro Nelito Soares, intitulado “filosofia ideológica da revolução pacifica vs como derrubar um ditador.” Segundo a Amnistia Internacional, "as autoridades angolanas têm de libertar imediatamente e de forma incondicional os ativistas que foram detidos em Luanda...  A detenção destes ativistas é um estratagema para suprimir as vozes dissidentes e a liberdade de reunião pacífica no país."

    The National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee is a political action committee formed to draft Dr. Ben Carson into the race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. It was founded in August 2013 by John Philip Sousa IV and Vernon Robinson, and works to raise awareness of Dr. Carson’s qualifications and to engage grassroots conservative activists in clamoring for Dr. Carson to run for president.


    With over 20,000 volunteers nationwide, the committee has been able to raise more than $11 million dollars. The committee also has a goal of collecting 1 million petition signatures by January 1, 2015. 


    Tonight John Philip Sousa IV, the great-grandson of the great march composer, joins us.

    In 1887, Santelmann decided to audition for the United States Marine Band. He applied to John Philip Sousa and auditioned for him on violin, clarinet, and baritone. He was accepted on all three instruments and joined the band Sept. 24, 1887. His first two years with the Marine Band included the first two concert tours ever taken by the band.


    In 1898 the position of leader of the Marine Band became open and he was named 19th Director on March 3, 1898.
