    in Entertainment

Wednesday, October 1, 3 pm ET The Halli Casser-Jayne Show takes an in-depth look at the careers of three women who changed the trajectory of television news: Diane Sawyer, Katie Couric and Christiane Amanpour the subject of journalist Sheila Weller’s fascinating new book THE NEWS SORORITY, DIANE SAWYER, KATIE COURIC, CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR – AND THE (ONGOING, IMPERFECT, COMPLICATED) TRIUMPH OF WOMEN IN TV NEWS, Weller, the guest for the hour.

Journalist Sheila Weller forged her career with her scintillating true life tales drawn directly from the news.  She is the author of seven books  - three of which are New York Times bestsellers - including GIRLS LIKE US: CAROLE KING, JONI MITCHELL, CARLY SIMON – AND THE JOURNEY OF A GENERATION, the book that made headlines presenting an insightful and detailed portrayal of music's three most trailblazing and beloved singer-songwriters borne in the stultifying 1950s, coming of age in the turbulent Sixties -- three women who brilliantly rode the second-wave of feminism.

Weller has covered domestic abuse, upscale marriages, wife killing, and secret rapes in storybook communities, as well as her own family's halcyon life and the tragic demise of the premiere Hollywood nightclub they owned in her acclaimed memoir DANCING AT CIRO’S. A Contributing Editor at Glamour, a writer for Vanity Fair, the New York Times Book Review Weller she is respected among her peers for her comprehensive, evocative investigative writing about all aspects of women's lives and issues.

Greek life in 2014: advocates or bystanders? The robust wave of advocacy

    in Motivation

Tonight on Mz OptimiZm SpeakZ No Justice NO Peace!

Special guest host Media Mogul Dr. Misee Harris will join us tonight to talk about the Social and Humane injustice that has occurred as it relates to unarmed civilians being slayed by cops- particularly in the African American population. It seems as if a new case is televised or posted on Social Media every day; however, justice has not and appears that it will NOT be served. Cases stemming from Jim Crowe, to Amadou Diallo up to Rumain Brisbon- the violence must stop, let's hear your suggestions.

Much talk and controversy started after a brilliant piece written by Noemi Lujan went viral! The story tastefully depicted a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc peacefully protesting in her community while wearing her Sorority letters. Just as viral, Dr. Harris had a Vlog that expressed her extreme disappointment about Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. not allowing their members to wear their letters while protesting- which has since been overturned. We need to talk about the importance of Sororities and Fraternities representing their letters during these peaceful protests! Or does it matter?

As Dr. Mel Wilson would say, this is Greek Life 101- we've been on the forefront for decades and it won't stop now!

Join us tonight and bring a friend!

Head Closer Toward the Winter solstice With Afronerd's Grindhouse, Sat@6pm EST

    in Politics Conservative

Just like the often and incorrectly attributed Dragnet catchphrase-"Just the facts, ma'am"....we will try to make the show description brief!  Welcome to The Grindhouse (Comic Shoppe+Afronerd Radio) broadcast airing this Saturday at 6 and 7pm, respectively.  For The Comic Shoppe, join Dburt, Capt. Kirk and Daryll B. as they tackle the following subjects: more on the Sony hack (The Interview gets pulled, Idris as 007, Denzel gets slammed in an email, Andrew Garfield out as Spidey?); more on David Walker's take on Shaft, courtesy of Dynamite; in quest of a Black owned comic shop; Marvel' Comics editor-in-chief talk to CBS about the changes/diversity in Marvel characters; is there any hope for continued storylines relating to the Last Airbender series as the Legend of Korra series comes to a close?, and lastly, our thoughts on two new TV series, Netflix' Marco Polo and Syfy's Ascension.

And there's Afronerd Radio airing at 7pm.  Join Dburt and Captain Kirk as they decipher the following "Da vinci coded" current event laden issues:  much hyped racial discussion between The View's Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell; neo-soul artist, D'angelo releases his Black Messiah album after a 15 year absence; it appears that Bobby Shmurda's new audience will be behind bars (really?); after President Obama's historic political coup in renewing diplomatic relations with Cuba after 53 years of hostility-is he being "graded" fairly? and lastly, with VH-1's Sorority Sisters, cyberspace's lightskinordarkskin.com and a new Hip Hop themed restaurant serving "thug rice," is there no end to the minstrel industry onslaught?  Call live at 646-915-9620.
