Marissa Lauren is a singer/songwriter from Redondo Beach, CA.
She grew up listening to a large variety of music; everything from The Beach Boys to Judy Garland and much more. She started performing locally in musicals at the age of 8 and through that, began to find her voice. Over the years she has been in multiple productions throughout the South Bay in theaters such as The Norris, The Hermosa Beach Playhouse, and The Armstrong.
She continued studying theater through college, receiving her B.A. in Drama from UC Irvine. However, during her third year of school, she decided to study abroad in Florence, Italy for the year.
For fun, Marissa loves to take known songs and make them her own in creative cover videos. She features a wide range of music, including popular radio hits as well as some of her favorite classics. Her cover of Nicki Minaj's, 'Starships' gained much attention when Nicki Minaj herself tweeted Marissa's video to her 17 million followers.
Her cover projects also inspired her to explore and learn more about music production. Today, she solely arranges, records, and produces all of her music projects from her home studio.
Marissa writes piano driven Pop music with heavy Indie Pop and Folk influences, plus the occasional sprinkling of R&B, giving her a truly unique sound. She has been compared to artists like Regina Specktor, Sara Bareilles, Kate Nash, and Adele.
She currently attends The Songwriting School of LA and is also 1/5 of the new band, 'The Rilkeys'. When she isn't writing, or collaborating with other artists and producers, you can find her playing solo sets all over Southern California.

The Singer/Songwriter Part II: The Golden Era (1970 – 75) As a follow up to Part I, the focus of the Timmons Brothers will be the second half of the era when the singer-songwriter arguably enjoyed their greatest commercial success (early to mid 1970s). From Harry Chapin to Jim Croce and Gordon Lightfoot to Billy Joel among others, the singer/songwriters provided commentary on the times with their lyrics while evoking emotions with their melodies. Through it all, this period may have been the most noteworthy for the singer/songwriter.
