PART II- THE FIELD REPORT: Medical care on and off the Field. We are featuring news stories around our Wounded Warriors and this is a unique chance for us to hear about MST firsthand from a U.S. Soldier in his own words. We will be interviewing Michael Fortune, someone who will help us better understand Military Sexual Trauma.
Staff Sergeant M. David Davis, USA (ret.), is a decorated combat veteran, military advisor & nuclear weapons specialist. He is also a soldier dying within months. Not in the line of duty, but death due to negligence. His death will be as a result of the Veterans Administration doctors who misdiagnosed his illness.
According to SSG Davis, during “the last 10 years, I have been seen by the VA for sores which they gave me antibiotic creams & antibiotics by mouth with never having a biopsy. Last fall, I complained again to the VA & I was told, "Maybe warts or have I ever had HIV." In February, I complained to the VA again and told my VA doctor who refused the records and the civilian doctor’s card to call. The VA doctor said, “I do not want an outside opinion and would not call.” After much complaining about a cyst on the right side of my face the doctor planned to have it taken out.
Two days later I was diagnosed with metastases malignant melanoma, stage 4. Further tests revealed, 6 tumors in left lung, 2 tumors in right lung, tumors in breast, neck and other areas. During my last meeting with the VA Oncologist, he would not offer me chemo or radiation because it would do no good. I asked for referrals to civilian organizations and or experimental treatment. My answer was. “The VA does not do referrals or will help me get into any research at civilian or pay any expenses”
The final result is I am looking for my own burial sites. I was not referred to social services at the VA to help me. So what is the outcome? I fought for my country and my country brings me home to die in its own government sponsored hospitals. If I had been properly diagnosed, referred, and or a simple biopsy performed ten years ago I would not be dying and I would be able to watch my children marry and grandchildren grow.”
You are my Soldier”
Dave Hutzler. I am the one that wrote and produced the song and music video titled "You Are My Soldier". . I know there is a very special feeling about this song that many people are getting and I really am interested in getting this to as many Military Men and Women as possible. I can visit with you further about love and support for our Military and am so happy that a few of the SOLDIERS in Afghanistan are watching it and sharing it with their buddies.
I am running a test so see if I can inmport music into a show if this works then the real show will be Thursday 15 2014 at 3;30 with singer songwriter and my guest Dave Hutzler.

SHOW NOTES: In this episode our topic is, “How much law do I really need to know to succeed in the HR field?”
Answer: As much as possible.
Human Resources is all about humans! Finding, hiring, retaining, engaging, educating and serving humans. The end-users for organizations are humans. Even at a veterinarian the human is the end-user customer who finds, procures and pays for the animal medical service. In the arts the human audience or attendee is the end-user. For-profit organizations have human end-users as clients and customers as do public governmental agencies. The human is the entire focus of commerce, government and society. It is therefore logical that the expert in human resources is a pivotal role in an organization!
The HR professional is a professional. The field of HR is rapidly changing with new issues impacting business (technology, transparency, innovations, inventions, etc.) and the wider societal frameworks that businesses operate within (law, custom, etc.). The HR professional must understand the basics of the legal framework that their organization exists within. It is not sufficient for an HR professional to know that a particular form must be filled out by staff. They have to understand why the form is filled out (what is the purpose, how does it impact other areas, etc.).
I make the analogy in the show that the legally uninformed HR professional is analogous to a person who does not know how to play a sport being told to stand on a playing field and do a certain movement. What is the bigger picture framework of the game? What are the rules? What is the purpose of the recommended action?
