The outrage began with the shooting of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman. It was the watershed moment where America and the world woke up and realized that for young, black men, a trip to the local Walmart can end in death. America’s problem with race though, including the countless shooting of unarmed , young, black men began long before Trayvon Martin.
A recent report though suggests that police in American shoot an African American male twice a week. This is nothing new. This phenomena is almost certainly underreported as only 4% of police departments within the United States provided these statistics to the FBI and are based on a system of self-reporting. As a democratic nation, we are not only failing when it comes to race issues, but actually turning back the clock on the civil rights movement. To make matters worse, it is a rare occasion for police charged and successfully prosecuted.

This week we will be discussing the Byron Case murder case with Byron's mother Evelyn Case, and the author of "The Skeptical Juror and the Trial of Byron Case,” John Bennett Allen.
We will be taking calls during the second half of the show. Please call (347) 850-1478 with questions and comments about the case.
Anastasia Elizabeth WitbolsFeugen was murdered on the evening of October 22, 1997. Her body was found in a cemetery with a gunshot wound to her face. WitbolsFeugen had been fighting with her fiancé Justin Bruton on the night of her murder. Bruton’s body would later be found behind an abandoned warehouse where he had taken his own life with a shotgun.
Police repeatedly referred to WitbolsFeugen’s death as a murder suicide but the case remained open for three years, until police received shocking information from Kelly Moffett implicating her ex-boyfriend Byron Case for the murder. Moffett and Case were friends with WitbolsFeugen and Bruton and were with the couple earlier in the evening before the murder occurred.
According to Byron's supporters, the prosecution's case was built primarily on the testimony of the embittered ex-girlfriend Moffett. They claim she implicated Case in an act of revenge because Case had ended their relationship. Supporters also claim that Moffett has a long history with drug abuse and mental illness. Case is currently serving two consecutive life sentences for murder based on her testimony. Did the false testimony of a vindictive ex-girlfriend take the freedom of an innocent man? Tune in to hear the details of this compelling case.

This week we will be discussing the Brian Peixoto case in Massachusetts with advocate Lisa Munger. We will be taking calls during the second half of the show. Please call (347) 850-1478 with questions and comments about the case.
Brian Peixoto was convicted in 1996 for the murder of his girlfriend's 3-year-old son Christopher Affonso, Jr., and sentenced to life in prison in Massachusetts.
Peixoto was 26 years old at the time of his arrest. He had been dating the 3-year-old's mother Ami Sneed for about 3 months at the time of the child's death. Sneed had recently been staying at his home.
The State's medical examiner determined during autopsy that the child died from blunt head trauma leading investigators to suspect child abuse. Peixoto and Sneed immediately became their lead suspects. After being pressured by police, and giving up to eight different versions of events, Sneed provided a statement implicating Peixoto.
Peixoto's supporters state that the child died from injuries sustained during a fall, not from child abuse, and they have four nationally and internationally recognized medical experts that agree with them. Peixoto also has the support of the Massachusetts CPCS Innocence Program.
