    in Motivation

This week on Nick And Erik In the Monin, Nick and Erik will be addressing the question "Do Black Lives Matter In Media", but not alone. Nick and Erik will be joined by Race and Religion Activist Dr. Jon Pahl. Dr. Pahl earned his Ph.D. at The University of Chicago Divinity School, and since then has lectured or spoken at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, Princeton, Yale, Stanford and many other academic venues.  He’s been featured in a documentary film, Malls R Us, and has appeared on media outlets such as the BBC and ABC. He's the author, most recently, of the book Empire of Sacrifice:  The Religious Origins of American Violence--which includes a chapter on "The Slaveholding Religion--From Jarena Lee to Spike Lee."  Jon has written widely on topics of race and religion in America, and and he has been an activist on behalf of racial justice since his youth.  In his free time, Jon plays the sax with his jazz quartet and sits in with gospel choirs.  He's been married to his wife, Lisa, for 33 years--and they've been blessed to raise three beautiful children together.

"I am so happy and delighted one of the people featured in my book, Sue Ellen Allen found her passion and her purpose in an Arizona women's prison and now she was sitting in Michelle Obama's box at the State of the union.  Everyone has a story, it is up to us to ask and listen."  -Rae Luskin

"We as a country can change our collective thinking when we have new conversations. It is the creatives who are opening doors through their "art". We can question our definition of able by a dance performed by a dis-abled person. We can talk about prison reform when an ex con is sitting with Michele Obama at the State of the union.
