Playwright and performer Swithin Fry shares the poignant story of his penpal correspondence with Tim, a convict on Ohio's Death Row. From his vantage point in the United Kingdom, Swithin became aware of the difficulties Tim has faced seeking a retrial, leading to Swithin visiting Tim in prison and launching "Tim's Hope Campaign".
In Swithin's words..."I'm not saying they are all innocent; I'm not saying that Tim is innocent - though I believe he is. I'm saying the death penalty is wrong, morally wrong, the same way that killing is wrong, morally wrong. Tim is seeking a retrial. Nothing more, nothing less."
On March 1, Swithin debuted a monologue he wrote about his experience visiting Tim, performed at a major regional theater in England. Swithin hopes to take this on tour in America.
Swithin and host Susan Larison Danz discuss how as a civilized, enlightened society, we must humanize our understanding of "justice" in consideration of the accused, the convicted and the victims. Compassion, conscience and truth can set our society free.

JOHNNY IS IN THE STUDIO WITH SKID ROW & WILL BE ON LATER TODAY. NOT SURE OF TIME YET. SORRY! From every corner of the world, stadiums, arenas, theaters, and nightclubs, Johnny Solinger has brought the sound of Texas thunder to the masses. As lead singer of the multi-platinum rock band SKID ROW, he has been just about everywhere and seen just about everything… Things have changed a bit for the rock aficionado: he has added “Country Recording Artist” to his SKID ROW frontman duties. Don’t be confused, for this should come as no surprise to anyone who knows the versatile singer. Growing up in the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex, Johnny was exposed in equal doses to Hard Rock and Country music. He fell in love with both, and has been two timin’ the two of them ever since. He formed the rock band SOLINGER in Dallas, recording four independent records and enjoying live performance and radio success throughout the Southwest. Take 2 Radio Music chats with Johnny Solinger on April 24th at 3pm EDT I will also be playing his new song called "Rock n Roll Cowboy Man" available on iTunes, Amazon, Googleplay, and emusic!

The Fourth Annual Franchise Legal Series continues this week on Franchise Today. In this fourth of eight segments, host, Paul Segreto welcomes as his guest, Barry Heller, Partner at DLA Piper. Paul and Barry discuss the many aspects of franchise litigation including hot litigation issues and non-franchise litigation claims facing franchisors today. They also discuss dispute resolutions including options to consider when drafting the franchise agreement - Is arbitration or mediation best or most practical for the brand? The discussion also includes suggestions on how to avoid litigation.
About Our Guest
For almost 30 years, Barry Heller's practice has consisted almost exclusively of representing clients in franchise and distribution disputes throughout the country, both in litigation and arbitration. Much of his practice has focused on franchise termination matters, as well as on more complex franchise cases involving issues affecting the entire franchise system. He has handled cases involving, among other issues, termination, transfers, rights of first refusal, implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, alternative distribution channels, covenants against competition, trademark infringement, product sourcing and approval, franchisee associations, and unfair competition. Mr. Heller is the former director of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Division of the ABA Forum on Franchising. He has authored and lectured on franchise litigation issues, including conducting Legal Roundtable seminars in different cities for the International Franchise Association on franchise litigation matters. He was co-author of a manual entitled Franchise Litigation Claims of the Litigation Section of the District of Columbia Bar Association, for whom he conducted a seminar on the subject.
