in Pop Culture
Mickey Chaney Jr., also known as Spooky Kid, got his start in the comic industry during October 2011 when Marco Regalado of Pop Culture Paradise found him sketching while out in Tempe one day.
In the three years that he's been working in comics Mickey has worked on a number of books including; "No Man's Land", the "Dead Diva's" series, "Hooded Cobra", and "Dark Light". While he's been involved in multiple titles he is best known for his portrait works.
Apart from highschool art courses Mickey does not have any formal art education. Currently Mickey is working with fellow local artists Rob Hicks, Derrick Tipton and Ruben Rosas in Spiral Ink Comics, which produces the books "Hooded Cobra" and "Dark Light".
Mickey Chaney CGC Best of the Best Zombie Sketch
If you have been scrolling online through Facebook fan pages or maybe heard the news at a local comic shop, then you may have heard Mickey Chaney has been crowned the Zombie King by the people of CGC (Certified Guaranty Company) in their Best of the Best Zombie sketch contest. You might be asking yourself after hearing this news what is the CGC Best of the Best Sketch competition and what does a win mean for the artist and owner of the comic? We will be talking to Michael Fett, the man behind the win, since he nominated the Spooky Kid for the award.
MOST HUMANS HAVE PICKED UP, ALONG THIS PHYSICAL TRAIL, THE FEELING OF UNWORTHINESS. ABRAHAM REVEALED AT THE MOST RECENT WORKSHOP, THE CAUSE OF THIS FEELING THAT USUALLY COMES IN CHILDHOOD. YOU ARE REALLY GOING TO LIKE THIS SHOW, FAVORITE LISTENERS! PABLO PICASSO FELT WORTHY WHEN HE WAS IN THE PHYSICAL. IN PARIS ONE DAY JOAN SAW A SPRY ELDERLY MAN ON THE STREET WHO LOOKED LIKE PICASSO. SHE MUSTERED UP HER COURAGE TO WALK UP TO HIM AND ASK HIM IF HE WAS PABLO PICASSO. HE SAID THAT HE WAS. SHE ASKED IF HE WOULD SKETCH HER PORTRAIT AND THAT OF COURSE SHE WOULD PAY HIM. HE ACCEPTED AND THEY WENT TO A SMALL COFFEE SHOP WHERE THEY COULD BE QUIET. HE GOT OUT HIS CHARCOAL AND SKETCHED A BEAUTIFUL PORTRAIT OF HER IN 15 MINUTES. SHE WAS THRILLED WITH IT AND GOT OUT HER CHECKBOOK TO PAY HIM."HOW MUCH," SHE ASKED. "$5,000.00," HE ANSWERED. SHE WAS SHOCKED AND COMMENTED SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT THAT IT ONLY TOOK HIM 15 MINUTES. HE SAID, "NO, MADAME. IT TOOK ME 80 YEARS AND 15 MINUTES." I WANT FOR ALL OF US TO GET WHAT PICASSO HAD TODAY! SEE YOU AT 11. LOVE, LINNY
It's the season five premiere bitches! And what a great season it's gonna be! Matt-Man and Jayman have all kinds of ideas for new, innovative and hilarious stuff for the new season. Well, at least they will by the time this episode airs. Maybe the next. Okay, third or fourth show of season five at the very latest.
Some characters might not survive the move into season five. There might be some new ones who sign on. Others might be relegated to a smaller support role. IWS hates to be so vague about this, but we don't want to say anything before surviving family memebers are notified.
The weather is hot and nasty and the situation in Ferguson, MO, ISIL, Iraq and more there's a lot going on in the world right now and none of it looks good. Matt and Jay will do their best to find some good and funny. All this and YOUR CALLS at 661.244.9852!!

We were back in the boat at Trader Todd's for this special live version of our show.
Comedian Murphy Row joined us on the boat this week. Brian Hunter stopped in for a minute as well.
Al Larcher & Clark Loernsen talk sports, but quite often get lost on other subjects. Listen to us out of pity, spite or perhaps even interest. Also, we've been members of Chicago comedy group, ComedyAccident since 2008.

Rob considers himself an average guy who just happens to be able to communicate with those who passed. He calls himself a "medium rare" because he's still learning how to meditate for more messages, but he passes messages on when he gets them. He has also been able to sketch out what a ghost or spirit looks like and has connected with many people and dogs and cats!
He's not a medium who makes appointments or gives readings for money, he just gives them when spirits or ghosts come to him (The difference between them is something he explains in his books).
Often he'll get messages whenever someone emails him. He belongs to the Inspired Ghost Tracking group and helps cross ghosts over on private investigations.
By trade he's a meteorologist, so he explains the facets of entities using science. He's had the ability since he was a teenager, when his grandfather appeared to him 6 months after he passed.
One of his big focuses is on pets. Rob had a dog that was tragically killed as a puppy and who became the world's best canine communicator. He opened the door for other dogs and cats to give messages for others that he's proven over and over.
Rob enjoys activities with his partner and their dogs, work with dog rescues, ghost walks in various cities and visits to historic houses and sites to see who is still lingering behind. Rob enjoys exercise, a good cup of coffee, paperback mysteries, talking about ghosts and spirits, weather, superheroes and still reads and collects comic books. In fact, since he was a boy, one of his favorite superheroes has always been the ghostly avenger created in the 1940s called "The Specter."
The Ghosts and Spirits Blog:
His New Book "Pets and the Afterlife" is now available.
