October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and we will recognize it today with Dr. William Copeland, Associate Professor at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. Copeland recently wrote an article (published online 2/20, 2013 In JAMA Psychiatry) on the long-term effects of bullying behavior. The findings as to what extent bullying can affect a person’s adult functioning are alarming and should be a “call to arms,” to create effective bullying prevention programs in all schools and communities.
Dr. William Copeland is a clinical psychologist and epidemiologist, who trained at the University of Vermont and completed his clinical internship at Duke University Medical Center. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Center for Developmental Epidemiology in the department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. Copeland’s research program is supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the National Institute of Mental Health, and the National Alliance for Research in Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD).
In series 3 we will look at bullying from a educational and medical perspective. We need to address this problem at the core. In series 2 we focused on some key problems within the families such as lack of relationship between parents and children, most is caught than taught because of what children see the parents doing and no parent controls on electronic devices in the hands of children. These are just a few out of many that plague our childrens minds in school, clicks, and one on one relationships. We have been told "No Prayer in School" as we've seen little to no prayer we get Bullying and God only knows what else. Let's get back to basics and Pray! John 14:1
A brief discussion on the Solar Eclipse iin Scorpio and the water signs. Then I will do a few short Western Astrology readings!
The world of sports has been riddled with sexual abuse and incidents of bullying for many decades. These negative behaviors can come from coaches, peers, parents or anyone in contact with young athletes.
Abuse in youth sports reveals itself in many different ways; emotional, sexual abuse, physical abuse, bullying, harassment and neglect.
There are still too many unanswered questions that need to be addressed to be able to protect athletes from the unethical actions of offenders:
What screening should be in place to prevent abuse?
When should the sport organization enforce professional conduct?
When are local authorities to be notified of possible criminal behavior?
Must the sport community wait until there is evidence of abuse before they take action?
As is true with many not-for-profit organizations, Safe4Athletes was born out of the personal experience of its founder, Katherine Starr.
Discover the how to make sport a safe and positive experience for all athletes when she joins us LIVE at BEYONDtheCheers on blogtalkradio on Wed, Oct. 15th at 7PM EST. Our repeat broadcasts are Friday at NOON on AMFM247 or on demand at iHeart Radio, iTunes and Stitcher.com.

This matter of bullying is a serious one in our schools, neighborhoods, jobs and even in our homes, yes our homes. Bullying is a common practice of the adversary, Satan him self and this is why a Stand against this type of evil practice has to Stop within our communities. Who is the answer to this shadow of darkness? Jesus Christ and the Body of Christ through prayer and awareness. So Stand! with us in prayer and awareness within our families, schools and communities. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but aganist principalities, aganist powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Eph 6:12 Co-Host Nikeitria Mason will share in this series of "Who's Bullying Who" in bringing this to the forefront.
