"It Doesn't Take ALL That" - What good thing must I do to have Eternal Life?

    in Christianity

WHAT IF IT SEEMS GOD IS ASKING TO MUCH OF ME?

"I'VE DONE ABOUT ENOUGH" MATTHEW 19:16-17 and 20. The rich young ruler opened a conversation with Jesus by cutting to the point and asking Him a Powerful Question. Notice the rich young ruler response: "I have kept all these....What do I still lack?" He sensed that he was lacking something, or he needed to be told that he was OK, because he had done enough. Picture him in todays culture. He had youth, wealth, position, and power. However, he recognized that he simply did not possess the kind of life that satisfies here and now and gives hope for the life to come. Only real life (Eternal Life) satisfies forever.

"I CAN'T GO THAT FAR MATTHEW 19:21-22.  I can almost hear the rich young ruler Sighing. How would you respond if Jesus said the same to you?

DONE THAT-NOW WHAT? MATTHEW 19:27-29  Jesus ansswered  Peter's question with divine assurance that disciples would get rewards. However, there was a matter of timing.

According to verse 28, when would the rewards come. Jesus clearly stated that believers rewards would come in the Messianic Age, or the Regeneration when the Son of man shall sit upon in the thone of His Glory,or the renewal of all things. Despite Jesus clear answer, the question of WHAT DO WE GET? continues to be asked, some preach the prosperity gospel today, to decieve the saints to give more, this incorrectly promises that people who do good and make financial contributions to certain ministries will in turn recieve health, wealth, or power.

Jesus taught the gospel of the kingdom, and He said otherwise. We cannot earn eternal Life it is a free gift from Jesus through his sacrifice ....uhmmm.

Hybrid Jazz From Trish Hennessey - with Jaared!

    in Music

Jaared is no stranger to "Hybrid Jazz" - or to any radio program that yours truly has hosted in the past several years.  He was our first guest on THIS endeavor - in August of 2011 - and he's probably the artist with the most visits of ANY (okay, maybe Slim Man's in that company, too!).

This multiple talent is not only the consummate musician, but he is a friend.  And it's wonderful to see him experience the fabulous changes that are happening in his already magical life.  As you probably know, Jaared has had international success - to say that he has shared the stage with so-and-so doesn't even matter - the truth IS that anytime any artist has shared the stage with HIM - it makes THEM sound better!  That's how good a saxophonist he is.  And let's not even talk about the collective sighing that ensues when he SINGS!

Something you may not know about Jaared: when he was a child, his asthma was critical.  A wise Doctor told the family that a wind instrument would help save his lungs.  Jaared chose the the alto sax.  You're seeing the silver lining here :)  Through the years, Jaared also mastered the soprano and tenor saxes - and learned how to repair them, too.

NOW, life has taken him to a new fork in the road - he has been taking lessons from the great Billiard champ, Earl Strickland.  Already extremely proficient at pool, Jaared is gearing up for championships and his excitement is palpable!  Figuring into this new energy is a big MUSIC night coming soon in the shadow of his native Washington, D.C.  Our man of the hour is going to play a gig with the wonderful Attila Molnar!  And we'll get the details.  We'll also hear some vintage music from Jaared.  Expect to hear subjects, too - from chief inspiration, David Sanborn - to what lies ahead in 2014.  The fun begins at ONE!

    Is your confidence in God?

    in Spirituality

    Psalm 31:1-19 (KJV)
Ps 31:1 (KJV) In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. 2 Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. 3 For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.........  10 For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed. 11 I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me. 12 I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel. 13 For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life. 14 But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God. 15 My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me. 16 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake. 17 Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave. 18 Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous. 19 Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!

WHEN LIES DIVIDE "US", TRUTH IS "OUR" HEALER!

    in Religion

Isaiah 58:8 ¶  then shall your LIGHT break forth as the MORNING and your RIGHTEOUSNESS shall spring forth SPEEDILY; and YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS shall go before you; the GLORY of the LORD shall be your REWARD. 9  Then you shall call, and YAH shall answer you; you shall cry, and HE shall say, Here am I. IF you REMOVE DECEIT from your midst to RELEASE THE PRISONERS and CEASE speaking FALSEHOOD!
If man will not realize need to exceed worldly illusion while all he knows to believe remains a LIE, will his own lips save him?  If man's lawLESS beliefs are called the Gospel, who does man say is Judge?  The result of such thinking can never RESTORE AGREEMENT in the beauty of the plan for eternal PEACE which YAH foreordained from Beginning.   Yet man compelled to examine his thoughts in a complicitly divided world?  Have we known the way of PEACE?
Psa 12:1  .. A Psalm of David. Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. 2  They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. 3  YAH shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks proud things:  4  Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?  5  For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, says YAH; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. 6  The words of YAH are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.  7  Thou shalt keep them, O YAH, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.  8  The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.

KITĀB AL-MAGĀLL - THE BOOK OF THE ROLLS

    in Religion

When he and she ate the deadly fruit they were bereft of their glory, and their splendour was taken from them, and they were stripped of the light with which they had been clothed. When they looked at themselves, they were naked of the grace which they had worn, and their shame was manifest to them; they made to themselves aprons of fig-leaves, and covered themselves therewith, and they were in great sadness for three hours...
After the clothing of fig-leaves they put on clothing of skins, and that is the skin of which our bodies are made, being of the family of man, and it is a clothing of pain. The entrance of Adam into Paradise was at the third hour. He and Eve passed through great power in three hours, they were naked for three hours, and in the ninth hour they went out from Paradise, unwillingly, with much grief, great weeping, mourning and sighing.

He-Said-She-Said, No Way: Yes Way! – He Said | Broken Words – She Said

    in Religion

No Way: Yes Way! – He Said

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1 NIV

Words…we all have them. They clang off the walls of our minds, linking themselves together like strands of DNA to create an idea, movement, or story. Words have the power to change: “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” to liberate: “I have a dream…” and to create life: “Honey, let’s make a baby.”

I live in a world of words and “No” is the word I hear most often. “No” is an instructor suggesting I need more knowledge. “No” is the knot I cling to when I’m at the end of my rope. “No” is the rusty knob I grasp when the door of opportunity demands a shove.

“No” is a word that inspired me to become a writer.

“I’d like to say yes, but honestly, son, I don’t see anything in your transcripts that lead me to believe you can graduate from this university.”

I sat in the admissions office of North Carolina State. Within a few weeks I would graduate from Millbrook High School and though I’d been accepted into another college, I already considered State my alma mater—even though I couldn’t spell “Alba Matter.” Now I sat in a cramped office hoping for a chance to pursue my dream.

“Please, isn’t there some department that needs more students?” I asked.

Sighing, the admissions officer examined my folder again. “We have a few spots available in Industrial Arts, but I don’t see anything in your records to indicate you’re even qualified for that.”

    Bite Me Barbie

    in Education

This show will focus on how to deal with teenagers whose heads seem to spin. How do we deal with eye rolling, sucking teeth, sighing etc. Students figure out a way to let you know you are lower than the scum of a snail in their estimation. Our job as educators is not to let them know they pushed a button on our vending machine. If we deliver goods when they exhibit those behaviors, we will see those behaviors more than once.

Everlasting Joy shall be upon their Heads

Joy begins here, redeemed, ransomed, and knowing that one day, as those who have been redeemed, ransomed, and delivered by our God through his Son Jesus Christ, we will walk, singing, as the ‘ransomed of the LORD, into Zion with songs, having everlasting joy upon our heads, like a crown. All sorrow and sighing shall flee away in a moment.

Isaiah 35:10  And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Isaiah 51:11  Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
