power of perception with Steven L. Hairfield

    in Spirituality

ving been raised in a very abusive environment, I decided to serve my country in the military. My duties and expertise led me to Vietnam. My search for peace and higher understanding led me to a Zen Buddhist Monastery in South Vietnam, my first encounter with monks and their traditions. I became a Zen Priest through this experience. My natural curiosity, blended with a very acute intuitive sense led me to deeper questions of life and the purpose of self. The monks began to insist that I should learn of Issa? I later learned that Issa, Jesus, had spent much time in what is now known today as India, Pakistan, Ladak, Nepal, and Tibet before returning to the Middle East. Was Jesus taught what He knew? This truly inspired my personal search for knowledge to somehow recreate the Master’s 18 years not mentioned in the Bible. Pushed by this dream for Universal Truth, I traveled to India following an inner urge which led me to my greatest teachers and lessons, Tibetan Masters. They guided me through India, Nepal, and twice into Tibet. While in this part of the world I adapted to the life of a monk.

When I returned home after working with my Eastern teachers I wanted to understand the belief system and studied the greatest belief system of all Religion and Theology, becoming quite interested and fascinated by the field of Metaphysics in the process. Through my years of studies with Zen and Tibetan Monks as well as the Cree and Blackfoot Native Traditions, this true American Monk offers an unparalleled approach to understanding how we directly influence our own experiences. My journey was one of self Mastery, Empowerment while achieving an inner Divine nature. My book is entitled ‘A Metaphysical Interpretation

Deepertruth: Eucharistic Miracle of Cimballa, Spain, 1370 (7:00 P.M Central)

    in Religion

During the celebration of Holy Mass on Sunday, after having pronounced the words of the consecration, Don Tommaso  saw Blood flowing from the Host which had transformed into flesh; so much that the altar-linens were saturated.

The penitent priest began to weep from remorse. The faithful, seeing how he was troubled, quickly looked to the altar and saw the miracle. The relic was then taken in procession and the news spread everywhere. There were many miracles attributed to the “Most Holy Doubtful Mystery” and since then has always been a great object of devotion on the part of the faithful. The episode re-enforced the wavering faith of the priest who penitently retired to a monastery, dedicating himself to a life of penance and prayer. Every year on the 12th of September, the memory of the miracle in the parish church is celebrated where, even now, the relic of the corporal soaked in the Blood is kept.

The relic of the altar linen soaked in the Precious Blood has been exposed on the 12th of September every year; the anniversary of the feast of the miracle of the Precious Blood.

IndieReview Behind The Scenes with Author William Turner (Maverick Moments)

    in Entertainment

~~Hello Everyone! My name is Michelle Cornwell Jordan, I am your host!

~~The definition of Maverick is an unorthodox or independent-minded person.

Also called a TrailBlazer! I have the pleasure of chatting with one of these "Thinking Outside The Box Artists"  tonight  Author William Turner.

William Turner  spent his formative years in New England. He was educated in the private, parochial school system, and is presently retired from State service (State of California), as a supervisor. He has one son (Ontonio), and three grandchildren. His grandson is serving in the United States Air Force. His daughter-in-law, Bridgette, is a practicing pediatrician. William had aspired–so long ago–to be a priest, but felt at the time he had not been exposed enough to life to walk away and close the monastery door. His subsequent exposure to life sullied him beyond any aspiration to the priesthood. William now lives in Lancaster, California, spending much of his time doing penance, reflecting on his countless errors in judgment. William’s penchant for writing mysteries stems from his exposure to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories and those of Agatha Christie. His mentor was Sister Agnes Bernard–his high school English teacher.

    St. Emma of Austria

    in Religion

Rebroadcast of the long running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour", a presentation of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org

St. Emma of Austria - Hemma, also called Emma of Gurk, was born Countess of Zeltschach to a noble family called Peilenstein in present-day Pilštanj, Slovenia. They were related to the Liutpoldings of Bavaria and thus to Emperor Henry II. She was brought up at the Imperial court in Bamberg by the Empress Saint Cunigunde. She married Count Wilhelm of Friesach and of the Sanngau, by whom she had two sons, Hartwig and Wilhelm. Both of her sons and her husband were murdered, the latest of them probably in 1036. Hemma became wealthy through inheritance upon the death of her husband and sons.

Countess Hemma used her great wealth for the benefit of the poor and was already venerated as a saint during her lifetime. In addition, she founded ten churches throughout present-day Carinthia, Austria. In 1043 she founded the Benedictine double monastery of Gurk Abbey, where she withdrew during the last years of her life.

After her death, Gurk Abbey was dissolved by the Archbishop of Salzburg, Gebhard, who instead used the funds to set up the Diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt in 1072. Admont Abbey, another Benedictine foundation in Austria, was founded in 1074 by the same Gebhard, and also owes its existence to Hemma's wealth.

Since 1174 Hemma has been buried in the crypt of Gurk Cathedral, of which she is accounted the founder. She was beatified on 21 November 1287 and canonised on 5 January 1938 by Pope Pius XI. Her feast day is 27 June.[2]

Hemma is the patron saint of the Diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt as well as of the Austrian state of Carinthia, and her intercession is sought for childbirth and diseases of the eye.

Deepertruth Tuesday: St. Catherine of Alexandria (7:00 Central)

    in Religion

According to the Legend of St. Catherine, this young woman converted to Christianity after receiving a vision. At the age of 18, she debated 50 pagan philosophers. Amazed at her wisdom and debating skills, they became Christians—as did about 200 soldiers and members of the emperor’s family. All of them were martyred.

Sentenced to be executed on a spiked wheel, Catherine touched the wheel and it shattered. She was beheaded. Centuries later, angels are said to have carried the body of St. Catherine to a monastery at the foot of Mt. Sinai.

Devotion to her spread as a result of the Crusades. She was invoked as the patroness of students, teachers, librarians and lawyers. Catherine is one of the 14 Holy Helpers, venerated especially in Germany and Hungary.

    in Religion

    St. Columbanis of Bobbio

Rebroadcast of the long running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour", a presentation of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org

St. Columbanis - Columbanus of Bobbio The founder of several European monasteries, St. Columbanus was born c. 543 in Leinster, Ireland, and was educated at Bangor. Late in life (c. 590), he left Ireland to establish, at the invitation of King Childebert of Burgandy, a monastery at Annegray. He founded monasteries at Luxovium (Luxeuil) and at Fountaines as well. In 603, a synod accused him of keeping Easter by the Celtic date, although the real charge seems to have been criticizing the lax morals of the Burgundian court. Columbanus appealed to Gregory the Great, but nothing is known of the outcome of this act. Seven years later, Columbanus left Burgandy to preach to the Allemani of Switzerland; when Burgandy captured Switzerland, he fled to northern Italy, where he established a monastery at Bobbio in 613. His monasteries were known for the strictness of their rules (which the Benedictines later ameliorated) and their emphasis on corporal punishment. In addition to his rule for monks, Columbanus wrote a peneteniary and poems.
