Many cultural, religious, and ethnic groups practice shunning of those who do not conform to group norms. What does the Bible say about shunning for believing Christians? How does this apply to the plethora of Christian churches in America? When are doctrinal differences too big to maintain fellowship? When fellowship is broken what about societal cooperation? These are hard questions that have a big impact on our relationships and social trajectory. We will show the biblical New Testament standard and then talk about some of applications
Religious shunning bars association with people who have been labeled as apostates, whistleblowers, dissidents or anyone the religion perceives as a threat or source of conflict. Rob Robertson’s guest, Janette, has experienced shunning and will discuss this practice and the damage that it can do. After twenty years of involvement in Scientology, she and her husband concluded that the organization was a sham. They left … and were ostracized by the entire Clearwater, Florida Scientology Community. They lost their jobs, friends and even contact with some of their family members. ”It was a very public witch hunt against us,” Janette says. Since then, Janette and her husband met many people from various religious backgrounds, all with similar stories of shunning and corruption. Janette created a website called Truth Rundown to expose the abuses and corruption going on in not only Scientology, but in several religious organizations and cults such as the Jehovah’s Witnesses and Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints (FLDS). Please visit GodDiscussion.net for more information and links. ~~~ World Cult Watch, a weekly program that airs every Sunday night, is intended to not only offer news and information about cults, but to provide a forum where cult survivors — and those wanting to leave — have a chance to talk and receive emotional support. Rob runs the “World Cult Watch” website.
Continuing our discussion on the state of the youth in Black America and the roles we play in it...
Universally, the unpopular teen will engage in behavior or activities that may seem uncharacteristic to the teen or outrageous to society. For Black youths, the universal standards of popularity are doubled, as just being Black is projected as a disgusting quality, and the horrors they endure because of their race is being divided up between being denied that it exists by Whites who are too uncomfortable thinking that anyone in their community are racists, and Blacks who are too afraid to "rock the boat" in White America. Throw in the generational changes made in the Black community village, and you are left with a volatile group of individuals facing big issues with small aresenals and no experienced leaders to guide them through the process. SInce it's clear that one half of the world has no interest in their betterment, how much of a role does the shunning and inaction of Black AMerica play in the creation of poor self-esteem in its own youth?
We will be discussing how to learn to understand the importance of having wisdom to help us to effectively operate in love. Wisdom comes from God and not from our own way of thinking. Without God we cannot extract wisdom to help us in those situations and circumstances where wisdom is needed to keep us from acting like, becoming and ultimately being fools. In order to understand how to operate in love effectively and consistently, we must understand that without God we have no clue in how to be wiser in our dealings with each other, therefore we cannot operate in love without the wisdom of God to help us.
JOB 28:23-28 “God alone knows the way to Wisdom, He knows the exact place to find it. He knows where everything is on earth, He sees everything under heaven. After He commanded the winds to blow and measured out the waters, Arranged for the rain and set off explosions of thunder and lightning, He focused on Wisdom, made sure it was all set and tested and ready. Then He addressed the human race: ‘Here it is! Fear-of-the-Lord—that’s Wisdom, and Insight means shunning evil.’”
TOMORROW TUESDAY JOIN former Jehovah's Witness, Melissa Bramer and Associate Pastor James Kocian of Living Hope Church, Green Bay, WI, as they reach an unreachable group "Former (EX) Jehovah's Witnesses" through Praise, Worship, Scripture, Q & A and taking live callers who want to share their stories and ask questions.
Do you carry one of these names? I know I did. Do you carry the weight and shame of this name? I know I did.
Are you rejected? I know “I Am". Are you shunned? I know “I Am.
”If the world hates you, you should realize that it hated me before you. John 15:18
Does the Church follow this guideline today? Is excommunication and shunning only practiced by groups such as the Amish or Jehovah’s Witnesses? What situations might elicit such an extreme action?

On today's show, we are going to be talking about CHURCH SHUNNING.
Have you ever confronted the pastor, or decided to launch your own business/ ministry or disagreed with the vision/ direction of your church? Have you ever been isolated because of it? Better yet, have you stopped attending your church consistently and been shunned because of it? Have you LEFT your IC, and your remaining friends have blacklisted you?
To truly forgive others or ourself we have to:
(1) understand what forgiveness TRULY is and its energy basis, and
(2) see how we need to undertand what it is we are forgiving.
We tend to miss the mark of Truth by not having Gnosis of what precisely forgiveness Divinely is and is not. We also have a human tendency to elaborate as to the validity of something supposedly being the truth of the situation and jump to a blaming conclusion of how it needs to be forgiven and wanting to extract a price for it.
Our hearts need to not be burdened and poisoning our minds with the many antithesis of forgiveness that have arisen in our conscousness, such as hating, resenting, seeking vengence, 'eye for eye' thinking, revenge, shunning, 'the silence treatment', anger/rage, other attacking hostile responses we hope will balance the scales of justice for us. Is balance really what is happening, or not, with our violent solutions?
Does forgiveness mean to "let someone get away with" an atrocity? Does it mean we never impose sanctions for violating and harming others? Does it mean we 'turn the other cheek' and permit people to do violence to self or others? Does it mean we turn a blind eye with a positivity approach? Are these questions signs of confusion on how to deal with wounded hearts and minds? Is it wise to forgive and forget?
SELFGnosis takes a pragmatic and balancing approach to the whole idea of forgiveness because it is dealt with as the primal issue it is: a break from Oneness.
It is a restoration of AT-One-Ment, thus, atonement. Energy is the key to longevity healing and At-One-ment rendering a Peace that surpasses all understanding. Join us and enter an enlightened perpsective so you can set yourself and other loved ones free from shackles you never wanted to be part of ever.
When is public shunning not discrimination? When the law says so. At least that is the opinion of the Arizona Legislature.
"After the Arizona Legislature gave approval on Thursday to allow business owners to assert their religious beliefs and refuse service to gays, Rocco's Little Chicago Pizzeria in Tucson put up this sign.
"The restaurant said, “Funny how just being decent is starting to seem radical these days.” See the full story athttp://bit.ly/1bsFS2d.
Kansas avoided passing a similar bill last week by tabling it in committee at he behest of business interests. Who is behind this new attempt to validate religious discrimination?
On Thursday's Lunch with Louden we will talk about The Ethics and Public Policy Center's American Religious Freedom Program, the local Religious Freedom Caucuses, and the funding behind this national initiative. (Hint: Citizens United strikes again.)
Quotes and image from ABC15 Arizona
Jeanene Louden and co-host Debilyn Molineaux talk about current events and look for opportunities to bridge political divides, expose corruption and share information not covered in mainstream media.
Shunning is the 'ultimate rejection'
Used for centuries in religious circles, I believe women today use it as a means of bullying. It's as much psychological violence as a slap or a punch is physical violence.
It has to stop.
Today, I'll be talking about what it is, why we do it, what effects it has and why it has to stop and how we can be part of the solution.
