How long does it take to hear from God? How long does it take to experience a sense of "union" with Him, or truly communicate with Him, or to get direction from Him? Do I have sufficient capacity of intellect or spirit, levels of experience or reasoning powers which will or could make it happen? I feel dissatisfied, unfilfilled going through life the way I do. What do I need to change? by the way, I'm up for any shortcuts that are available.
Wow...can these questions be answered in one message? Well, these are questions that tend to define life for many, questions that most don't even know how to ask. In one sense, I think these questions are what this weekly call is all about. Let's take this time to look at: "How Long Does It Take To Hear From God?"
Have you ever accomplished something great by taking shortcuts? According to Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, said in his tweet last night when the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Miami Heat which was no doubt directed at LeBron James. He said, "Old Lesson for all:There are NO SHORTCUTS. NONE."
Just as there are no shortcuts in winning a world championship there are shortcuts to being successful in the trading world. Today we talk about the pitfalls of taking shortcuts when trading and what to do to avoid the temptation of getting a quick win.

Your brain is like a massive computer that holds 100 billion bits of information from every moment of your life. It creates shortcuts to remember more and retrieve it faster. The more you experience something, the stronger the pathway. Every time you see a hard surface attached to four legs, your brain identifies that object as “a table” . The brain creates new neural pathways so that we can learn new things and commit them to memory. The more you focus on something, the stronger the pathways.
So when you imagine something that you desire; having an image of you with it --- thinking of it over and over again, a strong neural pathway is created. So the brain more easily spots circumstances and objects that you desire as if the area becomes filled with things that your desire. With seeing so much of what you desire, you believe that you will get it so that there is confirmation bias, a term that means your brain is looking for or interpreting information to confirm its beliefs. This is another way of saying, you expect and allow yourself to receive what you desire.
Negative manifestations of this are seen every day in everyday language. “I knew it was too good to last”, “ I was waiting for the other shoe to fall”, “ No good deed goes unpunished”. The expectation of “bad” prepares us for bad and very likely “causes” the bad to happen through the process just described. When your brain focuses on something, it thinks you want more of it and moves to action in that direction. So keep your dreams front and present in my mind:
Post Notes with positive messages in places that you will see them often like Inside of kitchen cabinets doors; Schedule one-minute visioning where you take one minute every day day to envision something you want; Verbalize Your Desires so other people will help you get it.
Hookups. Sex with no attachments. "Test drive" theory. Many seek the authentic in the inauthentic. But there are no shortcuts to obtaining the authentic relationship. In a "do what makes you feel good" society, how do we help our young people live in sexual faithfulness (purity)? What components led to the 'hookup culture'? Some view sex as a casual act, but it has greater implications than you may understand—because God made it that way—and His purpose in doing so, wasn’t casual, as our society leads many to believe. We'll speak with Bryan A. Sands, campus pastor at Hope International University (Fullerton, CA) and founder of the blog Everyone Loves Sex: So Why Wait?. We will educate, equip and bring truth to deceptions perpetuated by our society regarding sex and hookups. We'll also discuss the science of sex and why bonding (whether we know it or not) occurs between sexual partners. Parents, young people, faith-based mentors, and all, we invite you to listen to this truthful conversation. Hosted by Nicole D. Hayes and Herbert G. Bowen, Jr.

Rearing Our Children in Today’s Spiritually Polluted Envir
There are no shortcuts to raising spiritual children in a secular world. The work begins before the moment of birth and continues throughout life — theirs and ours.
There are many dimensions to developing and maintaining a healthy spiritual life. At the minimum it involves daily study of scripture and other inspirational literature, daily prayer — a practice of listening as well as talking to God — regular worship attendance, giving of financial resources, and personal involvement in some outreach mission. Nothing speaks louder than our actions. If we say we value spirituality but the habits of our daily lives do not reflect this value, we are wasting our words.
If we do not currently give time to caring for our spiritual selves, we can begin today. It is never too late. God is always present with us. We need to care for our spiritual selves for our own good and not merely to influence our children. The influence on our children is the fruit of and not the reason for our labors.

We’ve all done it…cutting a corner here and there inan effort to shave valuable time off of a particular task. Quite often, it works out in the end, more or less, and we go on our merry way. Sometimes, however, in our efforts to gain a few extra minutes, we can end up wasting more time than we could have ever hoped to gain. Not only that, but we could also be exposing ourselves to unnessesary danger and risk serious injury from the most basic of household tasks.
This week I will take a look at and discuss some of the time wasting and down right dumb time saving corner cuts I made in the past couple of weeks. Did I know better? Of course I did, but in an attempt to be more time efficient, I ended up wasting more time than I could have hoped to save.
