Understanding The Loss of Your Pet

    in Pets

What happens to you when your pet dies?

The death of a beloved pet can mean saying goodby to a best friend.  Not only do you miss the companionship but this may have been your one source of unconditional and nonjudgemental love.

Our pets come to symbolize many things to each of us.  To Judy Cameron, co-host, her dogs represented her children.  To Judy Helm Wright, co-host, her dog filled an empty nest. Imagine how a pet may reflect the ideal mate or parent or companion--ever faithful, loyal and welcoming us daily. Can you see in your mind's eye how strong this bond may be?

We know how you feel, because we have felt the same way.  We understand your pain and acknowledge your sorrow.

    Give Yourself time to grieve

As coaches, authors and pet parents, we truly do understand your grief. We recognize that you do not need anyone else's approval to mourn the loss of your pet, nor do you need to justify your feelings to others.  But, we offer a "Safe Place" to share your stories and be able to be open about your feelings right now.

Join us on our weekly broadcasts as well as on our Facebook page--  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dealing-with-the-loss-of-a-pet/716509988445040  Return often to this Facebook page and find out exciting news about a pet loss support group and tele-classes.  You will be so glad you did.

    WHAT IS "ANIMAL HOUSE"

"Animal House" is a television show concept that will renovate or build animal shelters in struggling communities. It’s family-friendly, inspirational and very close to becoming a reality. We are preparing to shoot the pilot episode and will then be in a position to lock a home for the show on network television, cable television or with an online content provider.

THE PILOT EPISODE OF "ANIMAL HOUSE" FEATURING ADAMS COUNTY PET RESCUE IN OTHELLO, WASHINGTON

Through their Facebook campaign, "Animal House" has been contacted by approximately 180 non-profit organizations in need of help. Adams County Pet Rescue in Othello,  Washington is attempting to rebuild after their facility burned to the ground in 2009. Caring for mostly dogs and cats, they have a partial shelter and need assistance completing the building. The pilot episode will profile the animals of Othello who are in need of a safe haven and the dedicated individuals who are fighting for them.

Rebecca A. Rodriguez, the Creator of "Animal House" joins us.

Koby aka Puppy Einstein is a very talented little dog that has learned and performed many tricks and paints pictures for charity!   We will talk to Kim Mobley who will tell us all about her darling dog and how Koby learned all the tricks.

Pet Radio- Headlines: Small Town Municipal Animal Shelter Raided by State Health

    in Pets

Helmetta is a very small town in New Jersey. In 2011, under the direction of the Mayor, an animal shelter was built to not only take in strays and abused animals from the township, but for a fee they offered their services to 10 other surroundig town. From the shelters begining it ws plagued by complaints of unsanitary and unhealthy conditions, animals being euthanized without evr being put up for adoption, adopting out animals without being vetted, spayed or neutered, and even adopting out sick and pregnant dogs and cats. The New Jersey SPCA apparently agreed and issued citations against the shelter six times.Still nothing happened and as the years went by, it apparently only became worse... until a local news station did  series of reports and the sheltrs own vet. went on camera to blow the wistle. In November the NJ health department and the NJ SPCA raided the shelter nd closed it down for health code violations amd the town council turned the shelter over to the SPCA for temporary administration. According to sources the SPCA found the conditions and health of the animals even worse than what they feared. And this bizzare story continues with some questioning the Mayor's role in this.

Two people involved in this case are joining us. First Martin Mondoker, a local activist will share with us this whole story from his standpoint, and  Michelle Dawn with Homeless Animal Lifeline, a rescue who was allowed to pull cats from the shelter and witnessed first hand the conditions inside the shelter.

Join us to hear how a few dedicated people refused to have their voice ignored and made a difference.

Pet Radio-Making a Difference with Lee and Juno

    in Pets

Today we will hear from two little dogs making a big difference: Lee and Juno.

Lee is a long haired Chihuahua that spent the first 8 years of his life living in a wire cage in a puppy mill. Hear about his glorious new life and how he is changing the world one smile at a time.

Juno was two months old and sick with pneumonia when Deborah Young adopted her and nursed her back to health with a lot of "TLC, sleepless nights and a steam shower running." The pair quickly bonded, and soon Juno was traveling with Young 24/7. And even while Juno herself was slowly getting over her serious pneumonia, the little dog would cuddle and clean the rescued kittens that Young was also caring for. Now Juno is on a mission, and you will hear all about it.

We will also introduce you to Douglas, a 4 1/2 year old Bea Tzu.
