Who is the ultimate authority in a child's life - the parents or the State? When Dorothy Austin, mother of two sons, was falsely accused of having a psychological illness, she found herself in a seven year battle with the State of Illinois over custody of her son Shamir, then an eight year old child. Deprived of his mother after seven years, Shamir, now a 15 year old teenager, is desperate to come home. But the State simply will not let him go. Today, Dorothy Austin is fighting back. She has joined forces with supporters and other parents and launched a national organization: PROTECT, which stands for Parental Rights Organization To End Children's Tears. This organization was founded to raise money for legal fees for parents whose parental rights were wrongfully terminated, and to investigate and expose those attorneys, judges, and social service agency officials who knowingly make decisions that destructively tear families apart. Today, Ms. Austin discusses her fundraising efforts to enable her to hire the competent attorney who will help get her son Shamir back, and pursue punitive damages against those responsible for him being held hostage by the State for seven years. Her organization PROTECT will provide support for other parents in similar situations. Jerry Nicholas, father of six, shares his story of a 20 year battle for his parental rights. He exposes the economic incentive that makes State agencies become destroyers of children and families.
The iconic factories of Passaic’s history are being modernized to be part of its present and future and the people at the forefront are a family of furniture makers that made New Jersey their home over 30 years ago and never looked back.
Shimon Einhorn emigrated from Israel to the United States in 1978 and opened a small custom cabinet shop in Downtown Manhattan. Now, along with his sons Shamir and David, the Einhorn family, owners of Contempo Space, is embarking on building a new future for downtown Passaic with the construction of three businesses on a 12-acre property the family owns at 220 Passaic Street on the site of the old Okonite cable factory.
The property encompasses thousands of square feet of commercial space that the family is developing into a flagship showroom and store for their furniture business, a retail mall shopping center, a corporate event center with maximum capacity of 1,000 people and a plan to develop a hotel.
We'll talk with Shamir Einhorn about this amitious project that could serve as a model for urban centers throughout the state when completed.

Who is the ultimate authority in your child's life? You may think it's you, the parent. But for women like Dorothy Austin, the discovery that the State has more power than the parent was a horrifying discovery. When her son Shamir was hit on the head by a public school teacher, he suffered seizures as a result of his injuries. Naturally, Mrs. Austin filed a lawsuit against the Board of Education for allowing such an assault upon her son. She was told that the teacher involved had been fired, but in a sudden twist, she found herself being accused of having a delusional disorder and her son was removed from her home by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and put in foster care. As she and her husband fought to get their son back, she found herself entangled in a bizarre struggle to prove her mental stability. Is this a cover up by the State to avoid paying damages for the injury to her son? How can parents lose custody of a child when they are fit parents? Ms. Austin's husband has passed away during the course of this struggle and she continues to live in a nightmare as she tries to get her son back from State custody. What kind of parental rights do we really have under the law
