"Stand fast therefore in the Libery wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled with the yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1 Join us on the Spiritual View as we have a conversation on being shackled. When one is shackled they are limited in movement, they are sometimes bound to one area, and are not free. What has shackled you, your ministry, children or even your families? Do you feel as though you cannot break free? Let us discuss this on the Spiritual View on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 8:00 p.m.
Amazing Episode Alert! Sabrina's joined by her buddy Jacqueline Novak who's just signed a book deal, released her album Quality Notions and continues to mastermind the site douchechillz.com. The girls talk about the difference between writing stand up and books (they have the same literary agent. Hi Anthony!), Jacqueline teaches Sabrina several words (colloquial, audio regression, etc)...They solidify that Jacqueline is a ghost space alien from a different era, discuss depression blankets and Sally, the kidnapped tween that is shackled to the studio and fed kibble. Sabrina's mom Ursula calls to warn the girls to stop talking shit about people or they, themselves will morph into shit-pieces. Listen up!

Inclosing - Shackled and Chained by Eugene Puryear
They did the crime, and now they're serving their time. Prisoners across the nation are flooding our prison cells for various degrees of criminal activity as a way of ensuring the safety of the community. Prison is the separation of danger from civilization, and an example of how law and order is supposed to work. The police are part of the gatekeepers of that system, and yet they have been in the news for abuse of their power via brutality. Police brutality is never supposed to be acceptable, and lately, police brutality stories, video footage and social media postings have borne witness to such actions in mass. The outrage has been against the police because these stories have depicted actions against the general public. But then there's another type of police brutality...the kind that happens behind the locked doors of our prison facilities. The 1971 riot of Attica Correctional Facility in NYC was a noted rebellion by prisoners against their officers for such actions. Greene County jail also was in the news for the deadly beating of an inmate who was handcuffed and ankle-shackled in a non-surveillance area of the facility. Are the police within their rights to brutalize prisoners because they are prisoners, or is it brutality despite the recipients' status in society, and subject to the same legal punishment as if it were against the general public?

So, my friends, this is something like what has taken place with you. When Christ died he took that entire rule-dominated way of life down with him and left it in the tomb, leaving you free to “marry” a resurrection life and bear “offspring” of faith for God. For as long as we lived that old way of life, doing whatever we felt we could get away with, sin was calling most of the shots as the old law code hemmed us in. And this made us all the more rebellious. In the end, all we had to show for it was miscarriages and stillbirths. But now that we’re no longer shackled to that domineering mate of sin, and out from under all those oppressive regulations and fine print, we’re free to live a new life in the freedom of God. Romans 7:4-6
Tonight ...Finally a book that will put the Dred Scott decision in it's proper context!
Over 300 Enslaved Africans, like Polly Berry and Lucy Delaney successfully sued for their Freedom while Still in Bondage prior to the infamous racist Dred Scott decision whereupon Justice Roger Taney stated "Slaves had no rights a White Man was bound to respect" In the past, Missouri courts supported the doctrine of "once free, always free."

SLAVES WHO SUED FOR FREEDOM -- New research uncovers a little-known force for abolition: "Freedom Suits" Enslaved Africans who took the Slavers to court and WON!
Slavers growing weary from this trend, Enslaved Blacks Successfully Suing for freedom, Justice Taney and the Slave Institution were forced to retaliate. Subsequently, in March of 1857, they attempted to strip ALL blacks, (free and enslaved), from their their citizenship, the right to due process.
Prof. Sinha - “We normally don’t think of slaves as a part of the abolition movement,” -But they were, says Manisha Sinha, a professor of Afro-American studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, whose own book on the subject, “The Slave’s Cause: Abolition and the Origins of American Democracy,” Although many unable to read or write they courageously used thier shackled hand to sign their X on petitions for Liberation!
Black Abolitionists like, Northup wasn’t unique in trying to escape slavery through the legal system. Historians have long been aware of lawsuits, like La Amistad, brought by enslaved Africans against their owners or captors.
Do you know that God wants the best for you? What is holding you back from getting the best from God and being the best?
Are you in a relationship where in your heart you know isn’t the best for you? Are you dealing with a guy who is sorta-saved when you know you should be with a God fearing man? Is this man a flesh thinker or does he consult God before he makes moves?
Are you in an abusive relationship? Do you think God wants you- His favored child in a relationship where you are getting abused mentally or physically? Or does God want to strengthen you so that you can step away from this relationship so He can send you better?
Are you dealing with an addiction? Alcohol, drugs or sexual? Does your happy hour turn into night of unhappy decisions? Are you drinking to get through the day? Are you smoking weed to calm down or to have clear thinking? Are you dealing with lustful thoughts that have you addicted to sex? God doesn’t want us to addicted to anything but Him. If you are addicted to alcohol, drugs or sex, God can break you free from that addiction.
Are you shackled to mediocrity? Are you okay with just being good enough in your life? Do you realize that God wants us to be better and have better. Don’t settle for mediocrity, there is nothing cute about living, doing or being just enough when God wants us to strengthen us to be great. We are supposed to live full and have abundance.
