    Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education is a global grass-roots community event focusing on education in immersive virtual environments. This open conference is organized by educators, for educators, to provide an opportunity to showcase the learning that takes place in this community of practice. All educators are encouraged to present, attend and take part in this discussion of collaborative deeper learning and co-presence in virtual worlds and games.

    Our guests this morning are Janene Ferguson and Chris Reynolds from the Torrance Art Museum


    Janene Ferguson is the Cultural Services Supervisor for the Community Services Department for the City of Torrance.  She has been responsible for educational programming and volunteers at the Torrance Art Museum since 2000.  Her position also entails planning and coordinating 115 visual arts classes in six media at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center for youth and adults each quarter, including master workshops and children’s art camps.  She previously served five years as Education Director for the Palos Verdes Art Center. Janene is the Cultural Services Division's primary liaison for the Stories in Art program, the Torrance Artists Guild and the South Bay Watercolor Society. She is currently a member of Museum Educators of Southern California, National Arts Educators Association and California Association of Museums.  


    Christopher Reynolds is an artist, curator, and arts educator living and working in Los Angeles. He received his BA in Fine Art at the University of Southern California and his MFA at the California Institute of the Arts. He is currently an Assistant Curator at the Torrance Art Museum, Adjunct Professor of art at Long Beach City College, and Vice-President of GYST, an artist-run company providing resources to working artists.


    So this morning, we’re going to hear about the two new exhibitions, Second Sight: New Representations in Photography and John Hyatt: My Brush with Angels opening on Saturday, March 28.

A few years later, the two began dating, which was short lived due to Jerry being away in college. Over the next 25 years, the two of them ventured out into other relationships. Jerry was living in their hometown, Goldsboro NC, and Felicia was living in Maryland. In December 2010, God led Felicia to move back to her hometown. In April 2011, while Felicia was in her hometown (Goldsboro, NC) the two reconnected, June 2011 Jerry asked Felicia to be his wife and she accepted. In October 2011, the two were married. In March 2012, the two relocated to Maryland to make it their home. Since reuniting and moving to Maryland, the testimony of their lives, together, apart and back together again, has become a great blessing to many.

    International Novelist Anne Perry on Second Sunday Crime

    Join International Best-selling Novelist Anne Perry as she visits with Libby Hellmann, host of Second Sunday Crime. This is a special edition of SSC, recorded at the Love is Murder conference in Chicago, Feb 6-8, 2015. Anne’s publishing career began with The Cater Street Hangman. Published in 1979, this was the first book in the series to feature the Victorian policeman Thomas Pitt and his well-born wife Charlotte. It was filmed and broadcast on ITV featuring a young Keeley Hawes.  This is arguably the longest sustained crime series by a living writer. Death On Blackheath is the latest in the series, and appeared in the New York Times Bestseller list, In 1990, Anne started a second series of detective novels with The Face of a Stranger. These are set about 35 years before and features the private detective William Monk and volatile nurse Hester Latterly. The most recent of these (20th in the series) is Blood On The Water (April 2014). Anne won an Edgar award in 2000 with her short story "Heroes". The main character in the story features in an ambitious five-book series set during the First World War.
