  • John Daly Show: NFL Kickoff

    in News

Football season begins in 1 week.

    Do you care?

It is a question some folks are taking seriously this year.

We’ll explore that and some games and trends to watch.

As always my expert is Eric Snyder.  He is the author of a book on the Raiders and Raider Nation.

You can also hear him on the Power Hour on Fox Sports Radio 1340 in Vegas.

    Boychic, happy 2015 football season.

The Brady decision is done.  Tom Terrific will play and not be suspended.  I spoke to our legal expert Ken Lakin right after the ruling.  He said it was inevitable that NFL had failed to designate what penalty would be for deflating a football and the NFL failed to give Brady’s side the same chance to review testimony and evidence.  He also thinks the case is over since appeals like this are rarely successful.  What is your take?

So is football losing its steam?  We are hearing more and more about the head injuries and lives of the players cut short.  The Junior Seau tragedy.  Domestic violence.  I think I am hearing some folks say they’re losing interest in football.  What are you hearing?

We’re talking with Eric Snyder.  He is the author of a book on the Raiders and Raider Nation.

You can also hear him on the Power Hour on Fox Sports Radio 1340 in Vegas.

Let’s talk Raiders.  I see a good year for them.  I also see Kahlil Mack as the break out player this year.

NFL's Real Problem Resurfaces, Bears To Start Amos, Cubs Rotation In Trouble

    in Sports

Former Bears quaterback Erik Kramer's suicide attempt is the latest in a long, sad line of NFL players dealing with post-career depression stemming from recurring head trauma.  While Roger Goodell and the NFL are keeping themselves busy with Tomy Brady and the Deflategate scandal, the real problem of retired players dealing with the effects of CTE continues to slip through the cracks (or purposefully ignored).

The Bears had two joint practices with the Indianapolis Colts this week prior to their preseason game on Saturday.  Jay Cutler wishes his top receivers were there and gave credit to the Colts for "winning the day" on Wednesday.  Meanwhile on defense, Adrian Amos will start at free safety Saturday, having leapfrogged 2nd year player Brock Vereen on the team's depth chart.  Will Amos win the starting job, and what's the deal with the Bears starting so many rookie safeties?

The Cubs begin a 4 game series against the Atlanta Braves tonight at Wrigley.  After getting dominated by Chris Sale in their final game on the south side, the Cubs losing streak is at 3 with two losses courtesy of the Detroit Tigers.  Jason Hammel and Jon Lester both had terrible games and were pulled early.  How worried should Cubs fans be about the team's starting pitcher rotation coming into the home stretch of the wild card race?

    in Football

This week, PodVader and the SuperFans are joined by special guest, Nick Seuberling, host of the Inside the Jungle podcast. http://www.cincyjungle.com/podcast

They talk about Junior Seau's family not being allowed to speak at HOF ceremony.  "Australian" Simon and Nick preview the Bengals hopes and dreams this season.

But the meat of today's show is thanks to SI.com's article on the most hated people, places and things in the NFL.  http://www.si.com/nfl/2015/07/23/nfl-most-hated-dan-snyder-bill-belichick-percy-harvin

No surprise to see the Patriots high on the list in some of the categories, but the best rant comes from Tim, Falcons SuperFan, on Dan Snyder.  A must listen.
