Science Fiction Spotlight host Pam Stack welcomes post-apocalyptic writer, Blue Cole to the show. Blue Cole has been writing since he could grip a pencil. After almost 15 years of business ownership in and around Atlanta, Georgia he has returned to writing, at least part time. He currently works for a state government. His literary style is a Frankenstein-ish mix of genres, combining Sci-fi, Fantasy, Horror, Suspense, and even delving into satirical essays and historical fiction. His aim is to tell a good story, in any genre, at any length. Memorable characters in mind blowing concepts occupying believable settings characterize his work. Alan Black has been writing novels since 1997 when he started Eye on The Prize. It took him two years to complete the novel although it wouldn’t be edited and published until 2001. He has gotten faster since then completing a recent manuscript in three weeks.
Alan was born in central Kansas and grew up in Gladstone, Missouri. He graduating from Oak Park Senior High School and eventually earning a liberal arts degree from Longview Community College. He spent most of his adult life in the Kansas City area. The exception came at the orders from the U.S. Air Force when he was stationed in Texas, California, Maryland, and Japan. He and his wife were married in the late 70s and moved back to Independence, Missouri, but now live in Arizona.
Alan Black is a #1 bestselling author on Amazon and Kindle for Metal Boxes, a young adult, science fiction, military, action adventure. He has published nine novels as a self-published multi-genre writer. One writer friend called him 'timeless' because he has written historical books, contemporary modern novels, and tales of the future. His main goal is to write story driven novels, scifi books that are more character and action driven than focused on science, story driven historical books that are not history lessons and entertainment based literary fiction tales.
Alan Black's vision statement: "I want my readers amazed they missed sleep because they could not put down one of my books. I want my readers amazed I made them laugh on one page and cry on the next. I want to give my readers a pleasurable respite from the cares of the world for a few hours.
I want to offer stories I would want to read."

Sci fi fans and lovers listen to this and see how a real sci fi lover does a podcast. But here is Viki herself to tell you about her episode!
Science fiction storytelling in film is nearly as old as cinema itself. Yet it is the most misunderstood genre of all. We will be discussing seminal films of the genre that tie us to the human condition rather than alienate with over use of spaceships and laser weapons. So tune in and listen!
This show will be dedicated to stating things how they really are, and bringing out there my own start in horror, experiences in it, and truly just laying it all down, and stating how it really is.
Everything will generally be dug into so, here it is.
I am also officially parting ways with horror/sci-fi generally speaking, and trying to focus on more out there, because life is short and I really don't want to decidate the rest of my life to only 'horror.'
Tune in and join me as I welcome this week's guest.
Author Robert Lovelle Rooks joins me this week to talk about his book:: The Guidon Bearer: A Basic Training Story
Boot Camp. Otherwise known as Basic Military Training. The rigorous and memorable Rite of Passage every person who ever served in the United States Armed Forces, whether Coast Guard, Navy, Marine Corps, Army or Air Force has been through. If you have ever served or know anyone who has served ask them about Basic Training. They will remember. "The Guidon Bearer" is a semi-fictitious account of one man's journey through Air Force Basic Military Training [Around the year 2000]. Unlike the other four services, anyone who served in the U.S. Air Force has gone through the exact same place: Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX. Here's a story all veterans will relate to, non-service-members will find entertaining and all Air Force veterans past, present and future will give a big thumbs up! Maybe even wonder if they were there when it happened.

Author, journalist and acclaimed writing instructor Charles Salzberg joins me this week to talk about his books, including: Swann's Lake of Despair, Swann Dives In, Swann's Last Song & Devil in the Hole.
From Swann's Lake of Despair:
When rare photos‚ a scandalous diary‚ and a beautiful woman all go missing at once‚ the stage is set for three challenging cases for Henry Swann. It begins with an offer to partner up with his slovenly‚ unreliable frenemy‚ Goldblatt. The disbarred lawyer-turned-"facilitator" would provide the leads and muscle‚ while Swann would do all the fancy footwork. A lost diary by a free-loving Jazz Age flapper is worth enough to someone that Swann takes a beat down on an abandoned boardwalk. Pilfered photos of Marilyn Monroe propel him deep into the past of an alcoholic shutterbug‚ his wife; and he's hired to search for a lonely writer's runaway girlfriend. The cases converge and collide in a finale that lifts the curtain on crucial‚ deadly facts of life for everyone -- including Swann himself.
