There is a battle being waged for the hearts and minds of our youth, and the weapon used is the sound of music. Tunes, lyrics, instruments, voices, all sounds create a vibration that affects ones behavior. Just as "gangster rap" is accused of being evil, gospel music is seen by many to represent good. But old time hymns don't move the hearts of the young. Many slow, sad songs reflect sounds of mourning more than the sounds of the joy that comes with spiritual revival. Gospel songs that reflect a modern upbeat rhythm and blues style sounds like party music to some elders, but many such songs have become popular hits that have brought young people out of the streets and back into the church. Can gospel music reach the hip hop generation? Music producers Derrell Green and Jamal Davis look at the effects of today's gospel music on the eve of the celebration of the release of their choir's new music CD. Community organizer Kwabena discusses the detrimental effects of violent and vulgar music.

Bob Corritore needs no introduction. Maybe an explanation as to why it has taken so long to bring Bob on the show; well I interviewed him for American Blues News a number of years ago, he has visited during my IBC shows and somehow,my brain turned that into him having appeared on a Monday show! When I realized my mistake, I reached out and Bob accepted. We'll look at how it all began some 40 years ago and then also chat with Bob about his take on the Blues World today as compared to when he was sharing the stage with the many legends who are no longer with us. We'll share some of the mus from Bob's latest, Taboo.
