How a principal’s passion, personality, and bow tie prepares students for college-readiness.
During Dr. Varano’s nine years as principal, Souderton Area High School has progressed from relative obscurity to U.S. News and World Report’s #26 ranked high school in Pennsylvania. Dr. Varano was named Pennsylvania’s 2011 MetLife/NASSP High School Principal of the Year, recognizing his leadership that has fostered an organizational learning culture. Sam has focused on collaborative leadership, student achievement and personalization of the educational experience. He has developed the Career Pathways Program by working with groups of stakeholders and the community to create differentiated diplomas based on the students’ post-high school goals. Sam strives to ensure students who need more help receive it through co-teaching in mathematics and language arts and encouraging personal mentoring connections between teachers and students. As a result, the achievement gap between average and economically disadvantaged students has decreased by 29 percent.
Sam will share why a bow tie is the perfect metaphor for education
Awake 2 Oneness Radio with Author Sam Shelley, Friday May 22, 2015 at 7:00 PM EDT. Sam is the author of "Don't Dwell" and Founder of the Don’t Dwell Sanctuary in Warminster, PA.
"Sam the Miracle Man,” as he is affectional called by his friends. Sam has survived two near-death experiences and five incurable diseases (bipolar, MS, migraines, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis). Sam spent most of his life in extreme pain and suffering with his mental and physical disabilities. Sam required thirteen medications a day and needed mobility aides (walker/cane).
Today, Sam lives free of disability, free of medicine, and free of disease.
Sam’s journey to health began when he had a paranormal experience that made no logical sense to him. This created a new sense of openness to explore beyond the defined standards of traditional medicine. Sam saw that conventional medicine was not the answer, since his health continued to decline.
Sam began to study about meditation and discovered that one of the benefits of meditation was inner peace. So he began his practice of meditation and had no idea of the miraculous healing that would occur a short three months later.
Today, Sam ia an author, Inspirational speaker, Spiritual counselor, Divine Love Healings, and psychic. Sam leads three meetup groups, Don’t Dwell…Just Live, One “Perfect Spirit” Law of Attraction Group, and Men’s Spiritual and Empowerment Group.

Hello and welcome to ART Talk, a series of conversations with the artists and master craftsman that make our world a more beautiful place. What inspires them to create? What does it take to make it in the world of handmade? Today I'm joined by artist, mother, small business owner, master craftsman, jeweler and nature lover Dina Varano. A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, Dina has had a presence in the Connecticut River Valley for nearly thirty years. After spending several formative years living and studying in Italy, Dina settled into her studio, nestled deep in the woods surrounding her home and retail space in Chester, Connecticut. At her shop, that fittingly carries her name, Dina displays her stunning collection of jewelry and artwork as well as a mindfully curated collection of the works from other artists. She continues to draw inspiration from the natural beauty at her doorstep.
“I am inspired by nature. I study and explore through drawing in charcoal. My goal is to capture this essence and gesture in metal. I want to show the mark of my hand in each piece and achieve a rhythm of grace and movement. My parents are dancers, at an early age I learned the grace of rhythm and movement which has become a formative influence in my work. I want my jewelry to inspire and welcome play with the wearer.” ~Dina Varano
