For Cinco de Mayo weekend Real Sisters Talk celebrates Latin Music with Seattle singer and bandleader Alma Villegas.
Alma Villegas started her professional music career in 2001 when she was asked to perform with two of Seattle's most popular Latin salsa music ensembles. Her experiences in these two ensembles reconnected her to her youth in Mexico and led her to create a band that offered a more diverse selection including the traditional bolero (Latin ballad), cha-chas, mid-tempo Latin jazz standards, a variety of Cuban rhythms, salsa and bossa novas.
She'll talk about her band's tribute to the legendary Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz, her career, and share the music and joy of Alma y Azucar!
Alma on YOU TUBE--You'll love to see her perform.
Celia Cruz Foundation
*All music by Alma Villegas & Azucar with the exception of one song sung by Celia Cruz--the first version of Melao de Cana, followed by Alma y Azucar's performance of Melao de Cana, and one song by Agustin Lara--Piensa en Mi, played in the background.
