SORT BY Relevancy
The Running Shoe Industry does not design shoes that help us perform better and safer; they make shoes based on market research and fashion trends. Listen as Jay Dicharry PT and gait analyst helps us sort through the confusion of running shoe selection. The industry served up high heels, heavy cushioned shoes for nearly 30 years. They then did an about face and went minimalist to chase the trend. Now they have turned back to heavily cushioned shoes. Clearly we, they or both are sorely confused! Nothing could be worse for a marathon runner than to shift from one extreme to the other and back again. Jay Dicharry is one of the most knowledgeable experts in the field of running mechanics today. This is a great show for all runners to hear.
An Interview with Dr Nicholas Romanov, author and creator of The Pose Method of Running. Dr Romanov is arguably one of the first running coaches to identify the importance of shifting to a Natural Running style to reduce injuries and improve performance.
Pose Running is named relative to the “Pose” position a runner creates as the initiate proper running technique which is describes as an “S” like body position with slightly bent knees with the driving leg lifting the foot under the hip. The matra is Pose-Fall-Pull. This technique allows gravity to act as the primary force of forward movement. Being that our show is named The Natural Running Network Live, this interview should make for a very interesting as well as informative for our audience.
Join Richard Diaz and his guest, Coach Jenny Hadfield as they discuss an exotic running vacation: The Havana Cuba Half Marathon. Due to the US embargo, Cuba has been restricted for US travelers. This is a unique chance to visit and run on the forbidden Island of Cuba.
Few Americans have had the pleasure of visiting Cuba since we blocked trade with Cuba as far back as October of 1960 back. Through the efforts of InsightCuba, a non-profit travel organization specializing in legal people-to-people travel to Cuba for Americans, runners from the US can legally visit Cuba to participate in this event.
Marathon Runners, are you confused, injured or simply ill-informed about running shoes? What’s best for you, minimal, zero drop, stability or motion control? Join us as we bring back Dr. Emily Splichal to de-mystify shoe selection for all types of runners.
There is so much marketing hype in the billion dollar shoe industry it is hard to sort the fact from fiction. Dr Emily is a world renowned podiatrist, educator and founder of The Evidence Based Fitness Academy. She has a lot to offer in the way of sound advice for runners, especially those who have been plagued with running injuries. This is a show you don’t want to miss!
In this episode of Independence Nation, Keith A. Pitts, MSE will tackle the issue of more police brutality. New York City police officers are under investigation this week after a bystander used a smartphone to capture a particularly rough arrest of a Brooklyn woman five months pregnant.
The video shows the arrest of Sandra Amezquita, a Colombian immigrant and mother of four, who fell belly first onto the pavement as officers wrestled her to the ground and cuffed her hands behind her back. The incident occurred during an early morning melee Saturday in Sunset Park – a neighborhood sometimes called Brooklyn’s “Little Latin America,” since more than half its residents are Latino.
Other news: cop asks man for license, and shoots him when he goes to get it and much more.

Pregnancy is SUPPOSED to be a special time for you and your partner, and there may be a lot of other people around you who are interested in your baby, such as your parents, sisters, brothers and friends.
People can offer a great deal of help in all sorts of ways, and you'll probably be glad of their interest and support. But sometimes it can feel as if they're taking over. If this is how you feel, it can help everyone if you explain gently that there are some decisions that only you and your partner can make, and some things that you prefer to do on your own.
You may also find that being pregnant puts you on the receiving end of a lot of advice and perhaps a bit of criticism, too. Sometimes the advice is helpful, sometimes not. Sometimes the criticism can really hurt. The important thing is to decide what is right for you. After all, it is your pregnancy and your baby.
Just because you don't have a partner doesn't mean you have to go to antenatal visits by yourself and cope with labour on your own. You have the right to take whoever you like: a friend, sister, or perhaps your mum.
Involve a birth partner if you can, and let him or her know what you want from them. It may help to discuss your birthplan with them so that they understand your wishes for labour. You can also ask your midwife if there are antenatal classes in your area that are run especially for single women.
Think about how you'll manage after the birth. Will there be people around to help and support you? If there's nobody who can give you support, it might help to discuss your situation with a social worker.

Dr Sepi Zandi of Zandi Chiropractic joins us with RL Smith - President of Flatirons Running - to discuss how having the chiropractic office located in the running store has been beneficial for both businesses.
Flatirons Running is a full-service specialty running store located in the Table Mesa Shopping Center of one of the nations most influential running communities, Boulder, CO. The business began its inception in 2009 being called In-Step. Family-owned by RL Smith and Tricia Vieth, In-Step offered a unique and personalized experience for the runner, focusing on the world famous custom insoles built by RL. RL has become known as the Foot Whisperer to many of his clientele with his impeccable ability to diagnose foot issues and resolve aches and pains with his ‘built on location’ custom insoles, tagged with years of experience in the running and cycling arena.
In 2014, RL and Tricia were approached by Henry and Suzanne Guzman with an offer that could only extend the services to our community. With years of experience as the buyer for another running store in town, Henry came to the table with connections in the industry, extensive experience in the running world as both an athlete and a coach and a knack for knowing what the runner needs and wants which has since outfitted the newly rebranded store, now known as Flatirons Running, to be a true full-service running store.
The combination of a full line of footwear, apparel, accessories, hydration and nutritionals, along with the custom insoles by RL, this is a store that you must visit to find exactly what you need to either get started, stay on track and stay healthy as a runner/walker/hiker!
