Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcomes thriller novelist Polly Iyer to the studio. Polly originally was a freelance illustrator for Pucci and Valentino but as times changed, she realized that what she really wanted to do was write books. After her children were grown, she wrote two books under a pen name but now writes under her own. She has just published her 7th novel and is a member of Sisters in Crime, South Carolina chapter. I'm anxious to discuss Polly's take on self-publishing, where her creativity springs from and to learn about the great fashion houses for whom she once worked. Call to join us 347-884-8266. Ok, where to start with this one? Romance, African in the same sentence??? Apparently, it's the heart's cry of some folks in relationships or marriages with Africans. It's Soccer Season now, FIFA 2014 and some men think the idea of a romantic night is hanging out watching 22 men chase a leather ball around the field for 90 minutes while shouting at their televisions and sending texts or posts on social networks expressing their views on certain shots/moves the players on the field.
While the women's idea could range from the man buying them gift items. Buying a house or "Buiilding" a car kinda tinz seem to trip the ladies. Or for some, just being a homely girl, home body, let's just chill and cuddle kinda tinz.
Abeg, please help!!
For those who know a thing a two about Romance, help our Brothers and Sisters out please.
We all could learn a thing or two. Let's swap tales....
Whether it be Gershwin, Bernstein and Sondheim, or Rodgers and Hammerstein; their musical scores are always going to enhance the story lines, their films are trying to convey; which is nothing short of genius. This episode is just the first of three, in a series of broadcasts, dedicated to "The Classical and Romantic American Musical".
Tonight we are talkng about beliefs and values. We will be having a conversation about how they may be affecting your romantic relationships. I am also joined by Rodney one of my goggle hangout friends who has a story he woud like to share.
Our values are things that we deem important and can include concepts like equality, honesty, education, effort, perseverance, loyalty, faithfulness…etc. Our values are very much individual and they affect us at a deep subconscious level. Every decision we make is based on our values and either we use them as avoidance or for aspiration.
Our beliefs on the other hand are assumptions that we make about the world. They grow from what we see, hear, experience, read and think about and they apply not only how we see ourselves but also how we see other people. We tend not to question our beliefs because we are so certain about them and many of them stem from childhood. Our beliefs can be changed or turned round by the ‘re-programming’ of our subconscious. Like values our beliefs can be split into two different types empowering beliefs and limiting beliefs.
So.....Are your values and beliefs getting in the way of romantic relationships?
