Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel. We have many of these energy centers located on and around the body, each having various functions. The connecting bridge of the lower and upper of the seven major chakras is the 4th chakra, called the heart chakra. This chakra governs the heart and circulatory system, respiratory system, arms, shoulders, hands, diaphragm, ribs/breasts and thymus gland. It is the seat of unconditional love and forgiveness. What happens when our heart chakra energy is blocked, and not flowing smoothly? What are some things we can do to open our heart energy? Tune in as Chakra and Crystal Healing expert, Rev. Susan Duncan, answers these questions and more, sharing how we can heal our heart, particularly using the energy of crystals.
Rev. Susan is an Associate Minister at the Takoma Park Chapel in Silver Spring, MD. She has studied the major world religions, spiritual wisdoms, and metaphysics. For many years, she has taught numerous healing classes and workshops specifically on: crystals, chakras, herbs, colors, and spirituality. She is a Reiki healer. Through her business Crystalight Designs, she designs and creates crystal and gemstone jewelry.
Since 1997, Rev. Duncan has written the newsletter, Living In The Light, and is author of the book titled Living in the Light. She has appeared on radio talk shows and has spoken at metaphysical shows and seminars. For more information and to check out her work, go to http://www.crystalight-designs.com/.
in Self Help
Tonight's special guest is Erica Hammel from Michigan, a mother who became an advocate and activist because of the childhood abuse of her young child a year ago. The boy, known as Wyatt The Warrior, nearly died from his injuries, and his mother, Erica, become a voice for victims of child abuse. The toddler was abused when he was just 1 year old (he turned 2 in October, 2014). Wyatt was physically assaulted (shaken baby syndrome) by the woman Erica's ex husband had left her for. The child suffered a major brain bleed, broken ribs, and permanent brain damage and, and was not expected to live. In fact Erica was told he might never even crawl. But after spending 7 weeks at Children's Hospital he was considered a living, breathing miracle. Wyatt is now walking and has literally beaten all the odds. Erica writes, "His father is not allowed to see him. His father's girlfriend had a criminal history of child abuse that he knew of (I didn't know) and he still left Wyatt alone with her. On the days he was going to work he told me Wyatt stayed with his mom." When criminal proceedings began, Erica had to quit her job because Wyatt needed full care. He currently does some sort of therapy 4xs a week. His main problems are he can't talk and he can't eat solid food. As Erica says it, "The fact that Wyatt's abuser had a previous history of child abuse sickened me." She wondered how someone who is convicted of physically abusing a child wasn't on a register sex offender registry." She concludes, "I had to speak up, I have to make a change. We need to protect our children, especially the ones who don't have a voice."
The Center of Light Radio Show with host Keith Anthony Blanchard
Show Topic: Voice For Victims
Former journalist and writer, Kim G Lain, is going public with her experience as a survivor of horrific domestic violence, which left her with broken ribs, and a close-to-death experience at the hands of her ex-marine fiance. Her message to others is that this act of mental and physical violence knows no boundaries with regard to race, socioeconomic status, or religion. Truly, a nondiscriminatory" plague in our nation today, Lain shares her story about mental and physical pain, enduring torture, and the ultimate triumph of "getting out."
As a former journalist, Lain has chronicled her experiences, and as a "Voice for Victims" she is working on her first book, and screenplay, slated to be released in theaters in 2016. Lain also shares her experience of relying on her faith to guide her, lift her, and ultimately save her, not only from the devastating effects of the physical violence, but from the demoralizing mental torture she endured. As speaker and advocate for victims of domestic violence, Lain emphasizes the importance, and responsibility of "getting out." Truly an inspirational story that captivates and educates, while offering insight and hope to countless suffering women - letting them know that they are not alone, and that they too, can survive! ~ A true story of triumph over tragedy!
Lain is currently working as a film and theatre actor in Memphis, as she completes her own screenplay - and serving as a public speaker for domestic violence awareness.
