Donald Whitehead is one of the country’s leading voices on homelessness. Over the last 20 years, he has advocated for and provided direct service to people experiencing homelessness. He was the Executive Director of The National Coalition for the Homelesss, and President of the Board. He is currently on the Board of Directors. He will welcome leaders, activists, celebrities, and elected officials to discuss ways to address the problem of involuntary homelessness in America. He welcomes Barbara Duffield and Evangelist L. Michelle Bush to this show.
Barbara Duffield is the Director of Policy and Programs for the National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY)--a national grassroots membership association dedicated to ensuring the schoolastic success of homeless children and youth. Ms. Duffield works closely with educators, service providers, federal agencies and Congressional offices to strengthen policy and practice for homeless children and youth.

She studied Accounting, Psychology & Christian Counseling at the Washington Bible College & Seminary. Frank Paul Pontillo is Co-Pastor with REMAR USA, an arm of Remar International an international Christian Ministry that operates in 70 countries. They provide rehabilitation homes and farms to house and help persons suffering with drug and alcohol addictions and other problems such as homelessness. Remar International also runs a network of orphanages throuout the world. Remar USA holds a weekly Sunday service in Fort Lauderdale and serves a free meal to the homeless and poor afterwords. The staff from Remar USA comes each week to transport persons that want to join our longterm rehabilitation program.Frank is intimately involved with the Fort Lauderdale downtown communities homeless on a daily basis and also minister to the men in the Remar rehabilitation program.
Laura Hansen has served as the C.E.O. of the Coalition to End Homelessness since 1996. The Coalition currently operates a drop-in center for chronically homeless people in greater Fort Lauderdale known as “The Yellow House”. Laura also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Coalition for the Homeless in D.C., the Living Wage Board of Broward County and the local EFSP Board.

Donald Brooks became homeless after twenty-five years of government service which included nine years with the DC Fire Dept.(receiving) the bronze medal of Valor for the Air Florida Crash, nine years at the National Institute of Health, four years with the US Army as an Operation Room Specialist( Medic) and numerous other government jobs and agencies. He became a homeless advocate after my experience with homeless. He sold and wrote for Street Sense(which is a homeless driven newspaper sold daily), Donald has been a member of the National Coalition for the Homeless( a member of the Faceless Speaker Bureau) and later became a board member of the DC Interagency Council on Homeless for three connective appointments. He also involve with youth, veteran, LB> and other members of the homeless population. He has worked and volunteered countless hours with these different organizations and individuals who are engaged with this group of society members who are and still being affected by this status of homeless. He is now an outreach worker/specialist who reaches out to veterans who need housing and rental assistance.
U.S Army veteran Taisha Encarnacion embraces her calling to help others. Volunteering and sharing her story with others is how she loves to spread hope. Her purpose is to encourage others to have the will power to be successful through hard work. Taisha is an uplifting motivational speaker who brings real life problems to the table and the choice to change your situation. Taisha and her husband Ben have overcome many obstacles with their four children, Tatiana 15, Elsy 9, Benjamin 8 and Gabriel 5. At this time they reside in their Habitat for Humanity home and Ben has been blessed to work for the organization.
