Mark Yantze - Restorative Justice Pioneer
Mark Yantze engineered the first Restorative Justice Program in Canada, in 1973. Beginning with the Elmira Case a well-known multiple vandalism incident that led to the arrest of two young men. Mark came up with the idea of having the offenders face their victims in place of taking the young men the court. The author reports that there is an overabundance of lawyers, according to estimates by the Bureau of Labor Statistics 45,000 law students graduate each year and 73,600 legal jobs will be created this decade. Mr. Harper contends that to remedy the situation law schools need to be more transparent about the realities of students securing employment and law firms need to devise a plan to better accommodate young lawyers. 3.
