SORT BY Relevancy
Challenge to anonymous person who said there was no more revelation after Jesus Christ. I responded that Paul received his vision after Jesus Christ. I then challenged him to produce one injunction against new revelation anywhere in Holy Writ. He could not, show his opinion was based on inchoate nonsense from his own mind. I, however, quoted a true prophet, John Taylor, who was visited by Jesus Christ on Sept 26, 1886, Centerville, Utah:
There is not a nation now that acknowledges that hand of God; there is not a king, potentate, nor ruler that acknowledges his jurisdiction. We talk about Christianity, but it is a perfect pack of nonsense. Men talk about civilization; but I do not want to say much about that, for I have seen enough of it. Myself and hundreds of the Elders around me have seen its pomp, parade, and glory; and what is it? It is a sounding brass and a tinkling symbol; it is as corrupt as hell; and the Devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work that the Christianity of the nineteenth century.
(Journal of Discourses, 26 vols., 6:, p.167)
I now challenge any so-called "Christian", whose faces were painted black, when they murdered Joseph, my Joseph, to prove fromt he scriptures, there is a ban on New Revelation.
"There is no subject which is more ridiculed by the religious world, at the present day, than that of New Revelation . All Christendom profess to admit that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, are still in existence , and that they are unchangeable in their attributes, and that there are just as many angels now as in ancient times; but to assert that any of these holy beings have communicated any New Revelation to man since the first century of the Christian era, is considered, if not blasphemy, something near akin to it. Now a religion that excludes New Revelation from its principles, is just the very religion that suits the devil: he is well pleased with it." Orson Pratt.

Thomas and Walt will alternate weeks.
1:23 Turn at my reproof.
Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you.
I will make known my words to you.
1:24 Because I have called, and you have refused;
I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention;
1:25 but you have ignored all my counsel,
and wanted none of my reproof;
1:26 I also will laugh at your disaster.
I will mock when calamity overtakes you;
1:27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind;
when distress and anguish come on you.
1:28 Then will they call on me, but I will not answer.
They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me;
1:29 because they hated knowledge,
and didn't choose the fear of Yahweh.
1:30 They wanted none of my counsel.
1:32 For the backsliding of the simple will kill them.
The careless ease of fools will destroy them.
1:33 But whoever listens to me will dwell securely,
and will be at ease, without fear of harm."
They despised all my reproof.
1:31 Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way,
and be filled with their own schemes.

We always like to start out with the Word of God, and today's Bible verse is 2 Timothy 3:16-17 which reads: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
Today's quote about the Bible is from Charles H. Spurgeon. He said, "A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t."
Today, we are going to continue our overview of some topics that will help us as we study the Bible throughout future episodes.
Our topic for today is titled: "How Should I Interpret the Bible? The Modern View” from the book, "The Promise and the Blessing: A Historical Survey of the Old and New Testaments" by Michael A. Harbin.
In distinction to the traditional view, the second school of interpretation is often called the modern view, also known as the liberal or critical view (the latter term is unhelpful because it could imply that the traditional view does not analyze issues critically). The modern view approaches the biblical documents as suspect at best. While these documents claim to be history, they are assumed to be late forgeries until conclusively proven otherwise. This view gained dominance in scholarly circles during the latter part of the nineteenth century. Its supporters continue to label the bulk of the Bible as “myth,” though their position on certain matters has often changed as a result of corroborating evidence. The real issue underlying the thinking of these scholars is a set of philosophical assumptions rather than conflicting evidence. In general, these conjectures reflect a spirit of naturalism, which can be simplistically reduced to the idea that miracles cannot happen.

An Investigation into The New Testament Bible
From 3 perspectives
* The Biblical Worldview
* The Academic/Scholastic
* The Urantia Book
As Paul reminded Timothy, "All Scripture is inspired by God and is [therefore] useful for teaching, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness" (2 Tim. 3:16)--all Scripture, not just our "life verses."
At the same time, the Westminster Confession properly reminds us that not everything in Scripture is equally plain or equally important. We have to interpret the more difficult passages in the light of clearer ones. Scripture interprets Scripture, and we learn the whole meaning of Scripture by studying its parts and its parts by learning the whole. You need the box-top and the puzzle-pieces.
Hmmmm??? Scripture "proves" scripture...
From The Urantia Book: 103:7.15. Science discovers the material world, religion evaluates it, and philosophy endeavors to interpret its meanings while co-ordinating the scientific material viewpoint with the religious spiritual concept. But history is a realm in which science and religion may never fully agree.
Always in Love
