Wow, creating that home away from home and leisure time can be very engaging. Yacht interiors have come a long way from your traditional wood finishes to the modernistic and futuristic fiberglass and steel finishes. Also aircraft interiors offer special customization with incorporating that into the space and making it aesthetically pleasing and appealing as well. So tune in with us tonight as we provide exciting design ideas and concepts for leisure and relaxation.
See Ya There!
In a time of budgetary pressure, a shrinking fleet, and an ongoing discussion of their relevance, how are we keeping out legacy Aircraft Carrier's in shape for the regular demands for extended deployments while at the same time bringing the new FORD Class CVN online?
What are some of the lessons we have learned in our decades of operating nuclear powered aircraft carriers that we are bring forward to serve the Fleet in the coming decades so we always have an answer to the question, "Where are the aircraft carriers?"
To discuss this and more, our guest for the full hour will be Rear Admiral Thomas J. Moore, USN, Program Executive Officer for Aircraft Carriers and is responsible for life cycle management for In-Service Carriers as well as the design and construction of the Future Class Carriers.
Miami Center this is Eastern 855. We are losing another engine right now. Our third and last remaining engine. The huge airplane is just a glider without hope. The so familiar noise of engines was replaced by the creepy whistling of the air. At least they had electrical power, hydraulic pressure and air conditioning supply. The APU is doing a good job, but is it enough?
For many Americans, the word "Airpower" is defined by the exploits of the Eighth Air Force flying from England to bomb targets in Germany and occupied Europe. But there was much more to American airpower during World War II, then just the efforts of, "The Mighty Eighth." One of the more notable contributions to the Allied victory in Europe came from the U.S. Fiftheenth Air Force, based in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. Though smaller than the Eighth, the Fifteenth Air Force was more diverse, and in some ways had a more challenging and varietal target set to prosecute. These ranged from radar stations that had to be destroyed prior to the invasion of the French Riviera in the summer of 1944, to the massive petroleum production facilities at Ploesti in Hungary. The Fifteenth Air Force was also the home to the all-Negro 332nd Fighter Group, the famous "Redtails" which had been trained as an "experiment" at Tuskegee, Alabama. And in spite of having been forgotten by most aviation historians, the men of the Fifteenth Air Force created a combat record as substantial as any other of World War II.
To learn more about the Fifteenth Air Force, join military historian, author and journalist John D. Gresham (@greshamj01) for Military Monday at 1 p.m. Eastern. His guest this week is well known aviation historian and Regency History Press author Barrett Tillman, whose new book, FORGOTTEN FIFTEENTH, chronicles the men, missions, and story of this little-known aerial armada. Together they will take listeners through a Mediterranean odyssey, combining World War II's most advanced weapons and aircraft, with a region as old as history itself. Listeners are encouraged to call in and offer both questions and opinions, and what should be a most enlightening hour of history for aviation buffs.

Although the collection began in 1972, Yanks’ was founded in 1982 by Mr. and Mrs. Nichols. The Nichols originally sought to acquire only three exceptional aircraft, the P-40 Warhawk, the Beech Staggerwing and the Stearman trainer. Purchased in 1973 the first aircraft of the collection was the Beech Staggerwing.
Even now, the Nichols’ still travel and collect, ever strengthening their resolve to restore and preserve American aircraft, their history and artifacts. The Nichols met and dealt with some of the most prominent icons in the aviation community to ensure the accuracy of each restoration. In the early years only true aviation enthusiasts were allowed into the museum, which was at that time more of a storage facility.
Now after more than four decades of public interest along with visitors from Japan, Australia, Germany, England and France, and of course America, the secret museum is no longer! The Yanks Air Museum preserves a collection of America’s aviation and aerospace legacy numbering more than 170 aircraft and has become one of the most prominent private aircraft collections in the world.
