Elder Chicks with Thelma Reese and Bobby Fleisher hosted by Rick Tocquigny. Thelma and Bobby discuss the topic of reinventing men.
Why is retirement the death knell for men? How do they define themselves? When asked, what do you do...do you say I was the former CEO of Acme blah, blah....or do you say...I'm an artist, I'm a sculpturor!
As we approach the 2020's, today we declare the Soaring 20's starts now.

Catrina Reese, with her angelic voice and musical talent, knew she was destined for the stage. At an early age her talent shone through with eagerness and validity at family events. She was introduced to the world of bright lights, studio recording, and professional singing when she began vocalizing back up for many groups at a young age. One experience, with Dorothy Norwood in 1988, opened up her magical gift of song even more. All these advantages led up to the formation of the musical group, New Generations in 1989. Under the direction of Gary and Belinda Jackson Ingram, the group became an opening act for Gospel’s legendary Shirley Caesar in Charlotte, NC.
Between the years of 2000-2004 she performed at many local events such as Pease Auditorium with Beverly Crawford and belted out the National Anthem at several sporting events such as the former Charlotte Hornets basketball game, CIAA tournament, Charlotte Knights pro baseball game, and Charlotte Checkers hockey game. She did not limit her talent to just sporting events, she also lended her voice to the Charlotte Choral Society and the Charlotte Singing Christmas tree. To round out 2004 she entered a 600-constestant talent audition for the “Gimme the Mike-Charlotte” sponsored by WSOC Channel 9 and won. This landed her the opportunity to open up for Yolanda Adams and Dettick Haddon at Charlotte’s Ovens Auditorium.

They have conducted many workshops for and about women in their 60s and beyond, and have interviewed over two hundred women about their concerns as they face the new challenges of this stage in their lives –a stage different in so many ways from those faced by the generation that preceded them.
As the authors of The New Senior Woman: Reinventing the Years Beyond Mid-Life, published by Rowman & Littlefield in 2014, Drs. Fleisher and Reese provide a framework for spirited discussion of the concerns they found in conversations with over 200 women who range in age from 62 to 100, and come from all walks of life.
