IN THE KNOW: Arizona Girls and racism to Politics and Primaries

    in Social Networking

    Two Hot Topics:

    1) Racisim in Schools

A recent picture circulating around social media showing six white girls in Arizona posing with the "N" word spelled out on their t-shirts has caused quite a firestorm.  What does this inicident, and others like it, say aobut race in America?  It's not the racism of old.  So....what is it??

    2) Politics and Primaries

The Iowa caucuses were February 1, 2016 and, in case you haven't been paying attention, Republicans Ted Cruz, Donald Trump and Marco Rubio were the clear victors on the GOP side.  As predicted, Hillary Clinto and Bernie Sanders made a showing on the Democrat side.

Joining me to talk about these topics is Dru Ealons, the National Director of Advocacy and Public Policy for Mocha Moms, Inc., the nation's leading voice for mothers of color, and founder and CEO of the Ealons Group, a consulting firm in the DC area.

Packers lose another overtime playoff game in Arizona

    in Sports

The Arizona Cardinals will be playing in the NFC Championship game after defeating the Green Bay Packers 26-20, in overtime. In 2009, the Cardinals also defeated the Packers in overtime. Aaron Rodgers completed his second hail mary of the season to send the game to overtime. The Cardinals won the coin flip and scored a touchdown to end the game. That drive consisted of three plays that covered 80 yards. On the first play of overtime, the Packers pressured Carson Palmer who scrambled to his right and threw back across the field to an open Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald had no one around him as he scampered 75 yards to the Packers five-yard line. Two plays later a shuffle pass to Fitzgerald ended the game.

The Packers were fortunate to have the ovetime period. From the Arizona 41-yard line with five seconds left, Rodgers took the shotgun snap and heaved the ball to the end zone. Jeff Janis leaped into the air and grabbed the ball for the game tying touchdown.

The changing point in this game could have been on the Arizona scoring drive in the fourth quarter. Green Bay was holding a 13-10 lead, and the Cardinals drove to the Green Bay 19-yard line. Palmer tried to force the ball to Michael Floyd on an out route, and Sam Shileds had a great break on the ball. The ball hit his hands and fell harmlessly to the turf. Shields would have had ended a scoring drive and possibly returned that interception for a touchdown. Three plays later Damarious Randle made a great play on a ball intended for Larry Fitzgerald. Randle broke up the pass but the ball deflected up and into the hands of Michael Floyd for a touchdown. This gave the Cardinals a 17-13 lead with 3:44 left.

Listen in and call us with your thoughts on the game.

CUTV News Radio spotlights Gretchen Toolan of Empowerment Paths

    in Self Help

Bridgewater, NJ – The decision to leap into something new and different can be both terrifying and thrilling. Taking chances always comes with feelings of apprehension, but we must remember that it can also offer significant rewards. We must take chances to create new opportunities for happiness and fulfillment.

Gretchen Toolan is a life and career coach and the founder of Empowerment Paths. Gretchen works with individuals who are searching for more in their life journey. It’s her mission is to serve as a guide on your journey toward making positive, self-empowering choices.

“I believe that everyone is an expert on themselves,” says Gretchen. “My role as your coach is to help take you from where you are to where you want to be.”

Gretchen says that path often requires us to find the courage to take new risks. Gretchen works with her clients to examine the concept of risk and explore how the rewards for taking chances can far outweigh the costs. She offers support as her clients identify their true desires and develops a plan to help them reach their goals, all the while serving as a cheerleader and accountability partner to ensure her clients do what they say they will do.

“I have always felt most fulfilled when I was teaching, instructing and mentoring and helping someone reach their goals,” says Gretchen.

Gretchen says she’s walked the same path as many of her clients. She was a career woman and married with four children, but soon found that her career and her responsibilities as a mother were in conflict. So she hired a coach, and in the process of being coached, discovered that coaching was what she’d always wanted to do. Today she helps her clients walk the same pathway to their life goal.
