Curtis Harwell Discusses Why There Is No Such Thing as Spot Reducing

    in Fitness

The attempt to spot-reduce body fat. It should be dead and buried, but it lives on. It’s a pursuit that just doesn’t go away. Consumer ignorance, keen marketing, and blind faith keep it alive, but past research shows it’s impossible.

It’s time to add one more nail to the coffin.

For those of you who are not familiar, spot reduction means the attempt to remove subcutaneous body fat stores from specific areas of the body by performing exercises that target those areas. In example, a person who has an inordinate amount of fat stored on their sides above the hips ("love handles") may use a side-bend or an abdominal side-to-side twisting exercise in the attempt to torch those fat cells. By now we should know the reality of this endeavor. Performing those exercises may strengthen the muscular responsible for those movements, but they have negligible impact on reducing the amount of fat stored there, all other factors being equal.

female president of a police academy class and 26 years later, she became the first woman to lead the
Tampa Police Department. Chief Castor has redefined community policing in her hometown and driven
down the crime rate with her innovative approach to fighting crime.
Over the course of her career, Chief Jane Castor built a reputation for working side by side with
residents, community leaders, business owners and neighboring law enforcement agencies to reduce
crime and improve the quality of life in Tampa. Those community partnerships are the foundation of

Is there a Difference between Reducing Stress and Giving Up?

    in Religion

Everybody knows that stress can kill yet many of us either don’t wish to or do not know how to reduce it.  Sometimes the attempts that some of us make to reduce our stress are often viewed by others as a form of quitting.  They say we refused to fight hard enough for something and just do not wish to take into consideration that maybe we have seen it best for us to close out that chapter and move on.  Is it because they really care or is it because they are still trying to make us live our lives as they live theirs?  No one will truly ever know because no one has the ability to tell what is truly in the hearts and minds of man, we can only make educated guesses based on our personal experiences of observation and discovery through the years.

Get Sober and Find Deeper Recovery with Carol the Coach

    in Self Help

Carol the Coach will be interviewoing Paul Hartman who will be speaking about his  double mission. First is helping the addict get sober, stay sober, and progressing to deeper recovery. That includes healing past and present trauma wounds, exploring family of origin issues, accessing emotions that may have been repressed or stuffed, reducing shame, claiming self esteem, and living life as a functional adult. His second mission focuses on the couple because he believe the original relationship wounded by sexual betrayal cannot be healed. Even when both partners want to preserve the relationship, the wounds are too deep and the old relationship must be allowed to die. The good news is that if the addict establishes consistent, relapse free sobriety and the partner chooses to believe that partner is a new person in recovery who is honest and trustworthy, they can create a brand new relationship together. With willingness, help, and hard work over time; the new relationship can be better than anything they have ever had together including going back to a time that predates the addiction.

This is an inspiring show that will help both the addict and the partner to trust in hope-strength-recovery!

    Oxalates...Ask Your Questions!!!

    in Health

On Monday, April 27, 2015 at 8 PM Eastern we will do a follow up on the very popular oxalate podcast. We have the honor of hosting Monique L. Attinger, the "Low Ox Coach"!.

Monique works as a diet and health coach, to support those who want to heal using the low oxalate diet. She has recovered her own health by reducing her oxalate intake, and has been involved in the low oxalate world for over 6 years now. Monique brings to her work with clients all the skills she gained doing business consulting for 20 years, as well as her Master’s degree in Library and Information science, in combination with her curiosity and fervor for details; it is this which allows her to help people who want to get to the bottom of their health issues. While she has done some nutritionist studies, she has not completed them, because no program in current existence deals with oxalate, and so no program could not could give her more on oxalate than she already knew from submerging herself in the research, and interacting with those in the know. For the past three years, she has helped clients to regain their health through changing their diet. You can reach her at LowOxCoach@gmail.com

Monique will give a short presentation (here's the link to the pdf: http://goo.gl/AXZI5Z) and then be available to answer your questions.

Why are people who served time for Crime, still paying the price when freed

    in Music

I think convicted felons should still have the right to vote because they are still affected by the choices of politicians.Felons are still affected by laws made by politicians. Laws could be made about the court system or anything else that might have an impact on their lives. Since they are still a part of our democratic society, it would be wrong to take away the right to choose the people affecting them.

If you pay your dues you are like everyone else.

Yes. If time is served then they have the right. They paid their dues. Just because someone has a felony doesn't make them a bad person, well in some cases it does and they won't get out of prison so they don't count. People make mistakes, you ever heard of wrong place wrong time?

Some 15 to 20 million people have been arrested on drug charges and subjected to the tender mercies of the criminal justice system in the past two decades. But, thanks to congressional drug warriors, the punishments drug offenders face often extend far beyond the prison walls or the parole officer's office. A number of federal laws ostensibly aimed at reducing drug use block people with drug convictions from gaining access to federal benefits and services. These laws have a disproportionate impact on society's most vulnerable or marginalized members -- the poor, people of color, and women with children -- and in some cases, do not even require that a person actually be convicted of a drug offense to be punished.

Curtis Harwell Discusses How To Get Rid Of That Muffin Top For Good

    in Fitness

Could this be the recipe for deflating the muffin top? A recent study compared three groups—those who ate a reduced-carbohydrate diet, those who combined the diet with strength training and those who combined the diet and strength-training with cardio workouts—and found that a three-tier approach was the most effective strategy to decrease abdominal fat. It's important to note that the exercises you choose and the effort you put into them really matter, says Marta Montenegro, a certified strength and conditioning coach who teaches exercise physiology at Florida International University. Instead of ho-hum treadmill-trotting and sit-ups, she recommends high-intensity workouts, which have been shown to be more effective at reducing the belly fat you can pinch with your hand, as well as the visceral fat that pads internal organs (which has been linked to metabolic disturbances and increased risk for cardiovascular disease and type-2 diabetes).

Montenegro put together this hard-core high-intensity workout based on the latest research, her work with clients and her own experience (that's her in the photos; those abs don't lie).

    Reducing God to Build-up Man

    in Christianity

This program review the several distinctively un-Christian, but clearly official Mormon Doctrines that reduce the nature of God from a previously corrupt and sinful man to an exalted man who became one of billions of Gods.  This incredibly insulting teaching also builds mankind as it reduces God to an equivalent being.  Note:  This is a Live Call-in Show on KUTR 820 AM and 95.3 FM Utah radio called “Mainstream Mormonism” by Bishop Lee Baker.  To participate LIVE, call KUTR at 866-348-7884 or 866-34-TRUTH on Sat. Mar. 14th  at 4PM or Listen Live at LeeBaker.4Mormon.org
