    Denise Renee ~ Recording Artist

    in Radio

Like many gifted singers, Denise honed her gifts within the walls of her church, Greater Apostolic Love & Faith Tabernacle.  She began singing at the tender age of 3 and took to the drums shortly thereafter.  She played and belted out songs week after week at church until a connection with a fellow singer opened up a door to sing background vocals for Alicia Keys.  The dream job saw her traveling the world from 2003-2006.  Although Denise greatly appreciated the opportunities being a background vocalist offered her, she could not ignore the calling of the Lord on her life and in 2005, she walked away from a life of fame to dedicate her musical gifts entirely to God. As a former background vocalist for multiple GRAMMY Award Winner Alicia Keys, Denise shared the stage with renowned mainstream artists such as Quincy Jones, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz, Carlos Santana, John Mayer, Usher and dozens of other legendary artists.  Her breathtaking vocals can be heard on Keys’ albums, The Diary of Alicia Keys and MTV Unplugged and on John Legend’s Wake Up.  Denise has also been seen on national television shows such as Ellen, Oprah, The David Letterman Show, The Jay Leno Show, the GRAMMY Awards, The MTV Awards, The Billboard Music Awards and others.  In addition, Denise Renee is an actress and has been featured in local plays in her hometown of New Haven, ConnecticutThe new Dreambridge Recordings Artist is excited about her upcoming project slated for a fall release.  Distributed by Entertainment One, Dreambridge was founded by recording artist Armar'rae Hill. The label focuses on signing artists with an authentic approach. Dreambridge creates partnerships to empower and assist in the development of the artists for a worldwide platform.

Bathsheba Smithen ~ Recording Artist, Motivational Speaker

    in Radio

Simply put, Bathsheba Smithen is a quadruple threat. A lyricist, educator, recording artist and motivational speaker, Bathsheba is gifted beyond her years. Her life’s story reads like a Lifetime Movie, but she’s taken the trials and learned from them. She’s turned her struggles into strengths and found out who she is

in the process. Most importantly, she’s on a mission to inspire, educate and empower those who tussle with their identity unaware of the greatness God has placed within them. Using faith as the backdrop and music as the soundtrack, Bathsheba released her first recording and accompanying concept music video called “Let’s Get It Rockin’”. A mixture of rap and what Bathsheba calls “neo rock”, the track captures the motivation she wants to pass along to all within earshot. Clearly, a nimble poet, Bathsheba Smithen is set to change the world with her gift for words and passion for change. She says, “I have seen that many people don’t know who they are. Many are lost and operating out of the fact they don’t know who they are. It took me a long time to navigate my own complicated family situation and find myself. In my music, I aim to talk about the root of people’s identity issues by highlighting the symptoms.” Through her music, Bathsheba desires to enlighten people and help them see the beauty God created when He made them.

Author Anita Wills A Nation of Flaws JustUs in the Homeland

    in History

Join Author Anita Wills for the first episode of a open discussion on A Nation of Flaws JustUs in the Homeland. Families whose loved ones have been killed by Police Action will co host and share their stories. A Nation of Flaws is a book that goes back to the inception of Colonialism and the laws that allowed the killing of Natives for their land, their enslavement, and eventual removal from their ancients lands, to Reservations. Once Natives were dealt with African Slaves were brought into the Americas to work the stolen lands. Christianity was used as a means to Assimilate Natives and then Africans, although most European Christians broke every commandment in their Bible. The laws passed were meant to protect the White Male Patriarchy formed during the Colonial Period. America's laws, spoken and unspoken are a continuation of those same laws.

There are written and unwritten laws regarding the police killing of Minorities with impunity. Most Police Shootings are of African Americans, and then Hispanics, and then Natives. It is in fact Natives who have sustained the longest period of Genocide in history, over 500 years. African Americans are now in the cross hairs of American Justice and it is time to speak out. It is time to have an open discussion of the racism and repression visited upon people of color in America.

Join us as we have this discussion and share the stories of lives lost included in the book, including, Kerry Baxter Junior, James Rivera Junior, Mario Romero, Derrick Gaines, Antonio Guzman Lopez, O'Shaine Evans, Eric Garner, Sandy Bland, Aiyana Jones, Clinton Allen, Tamir Rice, and many more.
