At 1:23 AM on April 26th, 1986, reactor 4 of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded. Eighteen years later, the radioactive exclusion zone has rendered 21 cities uninhabitable. 21 CITIES. Over 100,000 people were given minutes to evacuate their homes, and told to grab three days worth of supplies. They were never allowed to return. How did this happen? What was the cause of the largest nuclear accident that the world has ever seen? Join REASON Podcast this, as we discuss the largest nuclear accident that the world has ever seen. Call in and join the conversation this Sunday, April 28th, 8pm EST. Questions, comments, and concerns welcome, 424-243-9589, email us at REASON@wnyatheist.org

Do you ever question things? Have you ever wondered about the validity of particular claim? Ever cried "Bullshit"? Then you may be a skeptic. This week, on REASON Podcast, we will be asking ourselves (skeptically) what that actually means. Where does this skepticism come from? What types are there? What can we believe? And why? Tune in this week to REASON Podcast as we discuss ancient and philosophical skepticism, use a lot of big words, and point a skeptical eye towards whether or not Socrates ever uttered the phrase 'The only true Wisdom is in knowing that you know nothing.' Call in and join the conversation this Sunday, April 21st, 8pm EST. Questions, comments, and concerns welcome, 424-243-9589, email us at REASON@wnyatheist.org.

In 1813, French Scientist Michel Eugene Chevreul discovered a new fatty acid that he dubbed acide margarique, after the Greek word margarites or "pearly." This is the discovery (or creation) of Margarine. Ever really wondered what the big deal is over a semi-solid emulsion composed, basically, of hydrogenated or refined vegetable fats and water. When I was a kid, margarine existed to protect us from the evils of butter; In recent times it has become a far worse devil. Margarine is the Beast and the Dragon in Revelation all rolled in to one. Revelation, that creepy LSD fest which ends the Christian holy book. Horsemen, death, plagues, Armageddon and such...Back on topic. Margarine is our topic this week on REASON Podcast. If you have ever had Margarine or heard tell of its evils call in and join the conversation this Sunday, April 14th, 8pm EST. Questions, comments, and concerns welcome, 424-243-9589, and email us at REASON@wnyatheist.org

Few historical figures have captured the public's attention as much as our most famous president, John Adams. With bravery in his heart, President Adams took the traditional Scottish pastime of golf, and miniaturized the game by adding Dutch windmills and very large clowns. His proficiency at creation only overshadowed by his presidency, Adams is responsible for the invention of such marvels of modern technology as the submarine, The reverse Mohawk with hyper-extended mutton chop sideburns, and Germany. How much of this can we prove? More than you'd think. Join REASON this Sunday, April 7th, 8pm EST, as we discuss our second Commander in Chief, President John Adams. The celebration of the overturning of Jesus v. wooden cross by staining eggs, eating chocolate, and having random fertility symbols hide various items around our houses, has come. This year, Easter serves as the capstone of more significant, and for that matter more religiously based, legal events in the Supreme Court. This week, SCOTUS heard arguments on California's Proposition 8, and The Defense of Marriage act. Meanwhile, President Obama signed the Monsanto Protection Act. Join REASON this Sunday, March 31st, as we discuss all of these exciting events, and have what is sure to be a frightening encounter with the pseudo-foodstuff known as 'Peeps.'
