Randall Bolten, Author of "Painting with Numbers"

    in Finance

On Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 5:30 PM Eastern time, Randall Bolten, author of Painting with Numbers, joins David Domzalski on Financial Bin Radio.
    About Randall and the book:
Author Randall Bolten asserts that mastering the rules of presenting numbers is not so different from -- and just as important as -- mastering the rules of grammar, spelling, diction, sentence structure, and paragraph organization
we spend years learning in school. The rules and practices that help you present numbers clearly and effectively are similar to the rules and practices that make people effective and eloquent writers and speakers, asserts the former Silicon Valley executive. Unfortunately, very little of your education was probably devoted to developing these skills.
Moreover, as with any other form of communication, when presenting numbers you are constantly sending all kinds of messages to your audience -- about your respect for your audience, your professionalism, your attention to detail, your work ethic, and even your perceived intelligence. Even small errors can have a disproportionately negative impact on your audience¹s understanding as well as on their opinion of you. With sympathy for the presenter and wit, Bolten addresses these messages you may be sending, and how to manage them.   Painting with Numbers teaches the reader to communicate financial information and other numbers clearly, understandably, concisely, and -- most of all -- effectively.

Duron Carter, the most famous fringe prospect ever

    in Sports

Fantasy Football Episode 2.9: host Matt Kelley @fantasy_mansion casts doubt on Warren Sharp's conclusion that the Patriots have been "fumble-proof" since 2007 while still agreeing that the team did gain a meaurable advantage by deflating their game balls.

ESPN's Sport Science program is losing credibility.

Only Randall Cunningham, Steve Young, Michael Vick, and Robert Griffin III had more prolific quarterback seasons with 500 or more rushing yards than Russell Wilson did in 2014.

Duron Carter is part Chris Matthews, part Adarius Bowman.

In the Streets with Beverley Smith: Keep Ya Head Up (Episode 14)

    in Spirituality

When times are hard, how do we make it through? Marginalized and oppressed people have always turned to our hymns, great speeches and spirited work songs to get us through the bad times. In this episode, we are inspired by the speeches of James Baldwin, Sojourner Truth, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (no, not the I Have a Dream speech). We gather strength and determination from the work songs of the Black convicts in the prison chain gangs of the American South. We find empathy and understanding in the writings of Nikki Giovanni, Etheridge Knight, and Dudley Randall. We thrill to the rewritten lyrics of Sojourner Truth's Battle Hymn, a battle song used by the all-Negro Union regiments during the Civil War. Our hymns draw on faith and the promise of a brighter day. We hope to understand it better by and by. Music by Ray Charles, Mahalia Jackson, the Davis Sisters, Sweet Honey in the Rock, In Process, and the prison chain gangs of Texas, South Carolina, and Mississippi.

Special Guest, Apostle Shirley J. Jones - "A Year of Triumph"

    in Christianity

Declaring The Finished Work Show Host:  Rev. Pat Randall

Apostle Shirley J. Jones is the Senior Pastor of Rehoboth Family Life Center, located in Upper Marlboro, Md. The Lord has given her the charge to make disciples; help them identify their spiritual gifts and set up platforms of opportunities that their gifts may be exercised; and then release them into their divine destiny. She pushes them forward that the world may be saved by those birthed out in the Spirit. Apostle Jones has declared that she should be about her Father’s business and acknowledges that her life is called to be an available vessel to set the captives free. Her desire is to spend her remaining years furthering the Kingdom of God. She feels honored and so blessed that God would choose her to deliver His Word and to love His people. She gives Him all the glory. There is no other place that she would rather be than in the hands of her loving Father.

Personal and professional situations, which changed my life, include 42 years with the US Department of Defense at home and abroad in Europe and Japan. I met people from all walks of life and all areas of religion and spirituality. Recognition of the power of the Individual Human Being, realization of the impact each of us can make and demonstrating the power of the Divine within caused me to realize I am so fulfilled when working with and around people.

Managing budgets amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars and working with universities and various contractors taught me to manage multiple challenges. Adversity when managing business loss, bankruptcy and the challenges of righting my course of life has also challenged me. I honor all the role models I have worked with and who have shown me such profound lessons.

I helped people, whose lives had been altered by the death of a loved one, including war deaths in several wars. I stood at the Berlin Wall as it fell and worked to negotiate relationships for five years afterward. Back in the U.S., I watched as people lost homes due to financial woes, helping those people work through loss and realize new avenues.

Hobby: Writing and learning about people and the impact of spiritual learning.  Building a new program and website, www.anewviewofeternity.com  Volunteer: I volunteer for programs helping wounded warriors and first responders.

Loving husband of forty-two years; proud father of two children, both daughters and Grandfather of four beautiful granddaughters.
