Racism
Shirley Sherrod was forced to resign from the USDA for perceived racist comments at a NAACP event. In South Carolina a white man killed a black man and dragged his body behind a pickup truck. A member of the New Black Panther Party makes statements of killing white babies. A white man kills a black woman and drags her body behind his truck. Is racism on the rise? Do the scriptures give guidance on racism? Please feel free to phone into the Virtual Living room with your comments or questions.

Racism, The Bible and the American Dream
"Racism, The Bible, and The American Dream" (subtitled: "From Slavery to Obama: A Frank Discussion, from a Christian Perspective, on Racial Discrimination in America, and its effect of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness") is to dispel any misconception that the Bible condones racism and to point out that institutional racism is not only a social issue but it is a moral issue as well. The book aims to better enlighten the public about the seriousness of institutional racism that does indeed exist in America against minorities today, to reveal how the Bible actually speaks against racism in any form, and to redirect, as many as possible, those who erroneously misuse the Bible as a weapon to justify racial hatred. My motto: I cannot "cure" racism, but in my book I encourage people to stand up or speak out against it when they see it happening within their own circles. If just a fragment of the population begins to do that, then we, as a country, can at least put a significant dent in the racial inequities that still currently exist. The book is available wherever books are sold and and can be ordered at any online bookstore as well as directly from the distributor. To place an order with my distributor (Atlas Books), click onto http://www.atlasbooks.com, call 1-800-Booklog, or click onto http://www.bookmasters.com/marktplc/03049.htm.

Racism In America
Racism in America: A Political and Moral issue? Racial prejudice is an insidious moral and social disease. Historically, a race of people is defined as a population with distinguishable biological features. When we see an individual with different outward appearance, we characterize him/her by what we are told by family, friends and the media. Racism is difficult to characterize; however in its immoral victimization, social concerns are raised which must be dealt with by political means to preserve the society. Too often, the government’s response to social issues is inadequate and problems compound and grow worse. This is the situation with racism in America.
Thoughts of men cannot be legislated; secret hates and prejudices within an individual are not mitigated enacting laws, but behavior can be modified. When there is a law that dictates that no one will be denied employment due to race or ethnicity, the employer must abide by the law, however, all over America, applicants are carefully scrutinized and incorrigible employers will filter out prospective employees who are consider “less desirable” without explanation. Can America, a nation of diverse peoples ever be able to unite without prejudice and fear, the twin roots of racism?

Youthwise: Confronting Racism with Tolerance and Peace
We are repeating our show on racism and tolerance from last week due to the outtages experienced by BlogTalk Radio. Join us this Thursday for a powerful discussion of how youth can stand up to racism and classism with tolerance and peace.
Our adult guest is long-time peace activist and trainer, former Captain of the Army and alumni of the Institute for Leading Diversity, Mr. Darrell Nichols. Mr. Nichols will share his experiences of confronting the KKK and his current peace activism. Youth guests Brittany Brooks, from Sarasota, Florida and Alex Rodriquez from San Diego, will share their powerful perspectives, respectively, as a biracial young woman in a predominantly white community, and a Mexican youth in a racially diverse city. They will share their insights on the -isms they see, and how they have overcome these to be successful, thriving young adults. These perspectives are critical to understanding the awareness and tools needed for youth to create a different future.
Join us as we explore questions such as: What is the youth definition of tolerance and peace? What are the benefits? How do we learn and spread tolerance? How should youth stand up to racism and classism?
Join us with your questions and comments on our call in line. Or send us questions on our facebook page: Youthwise Global.
