And if not, what sort of behavior controls can be put in the place of these no-longer-acceptable practices? Join About.com parenting guides Terri Mauro (Parenting Special Needs), Catherine Holecko (Family Fitness), Katherine Lee (Parenting School-Age Children), and Lisa Jo Rudy (Autism) as we discuss corporal punishment at home and at school.

The pending child abuse case against Minnesota Viking Adrian Peterson has brought spanking, a common form of child discipline used by parents, back into public scrutiny.
"By the the time they reach adolescence, 85 percent of the nation's children will have been, at one point or another, spanked," Dr. Alan Kazdin, a psychologist at Yale University told ABC News.
Corporal punishment in the home
This Monday, "The FX" will discuss the topic of Abuse. We have read and talked about the "hot topics" in the media, but Monday we will attempt to go a little further into the topic. In dealing with Domestic Abuse, we will examine how to recognize that you are in an abusive relationship as well as the steps needed to get out of it.
Also we will look at the time old tradition that many of us have experience... spankings. "...when I was growing up, I use to get whippings all the time and I turned out fine..." We've either heard that comment or said it. The question has come up recently, "does Corporal Punishment encourage rather than deters violent behavior?"
Experience the "FX" and tune in Monday night at 7/8p (ct/et)

Plenty of news coverage resulted from recent State of Arizona execution of Joseph R. Wood by lethal injection. Joining Mike and Thane will be inviting a organizer to talk about current issues and events relative to capital punishment. The Governor Jan Brewer and the State of Arizona has been industrious in obtaining the drugs needed to kill people sentenced to the death penalty. In Arizona 8 people have been sentenced to death and subsequently released due to their actual innocence. The last person sentenced to the death penalty that was subsequently exonerated was retired US Postal Service employee Ray Krone.

Jezebel was responsible for leading the entire nation into further wickedness, and she strongly influenced the king toward evil. She was appropriately punished in the end. All who reject the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross will also suffer, and hell is an eternal punishment that God wants all to be rescued from.
2 Kings 9:36-37New King James Version (NKJV)

Punishment (also penalty) is the authoritative imposition of something undesirable or unpleasant on a person or group of people, such as fine, penalty, or confinement. It may similarly entail the removal of something desirable or pleasant. This is done in response to a particular behaviour deemed unacceptable by an authority who has the inclination and power to enforce a certain standard. The authority may be either a group or a single person, and punishment may be carried out formally under a system of law or informally in other kinds of social settings such as within a family.
