SORT BY Relevancy
Does spanking have any place in a parent's disciplinary toolbox? Should teachers ever be able to hit, restrain, or isolate kids for behavior purposes? And if not, what sort of behavior controls can be put in the place of these no-longer-acceptable practices? Join About.com parenting guides Terri Mauro (Parenting Special Needs), Catherine Holecko (Family Fitness), Katherine Lee (Parenting School-Age Children), and Lisa Jo Rudy (Autism) as we discuss corporal punishment at home and at school.
Jezebel was responsible for leading the entire nation into further wickedness, and she strongly influenced the king toward evil. She was appropriately punished in the end. All who reject the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross will also suffer, and hell is an eternal punishment that God wants all to be rescued from.
2 Kings 9:36-37New King James Version (NKJV)
36 Therefore they came back and told him. And he said, “This is the word of the Lord, which He spoke by His servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ‘On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel;[a] 37 and the corpse of Jezebel shall be as refuse on the surface of the field, in the plot at Jezreel, so that they shall not say, “Here liesJezebel.”’”

Punishment (also penalty) is the authoritative imposition of something undesirable or unpleasant on a person or group of people, such as fine, penalty, or confinement. It may similarly entail the removal of something desirable or pleasant. This is done in response to a particular behaviour deemed unacceptable by an authority who has the inclination and power to enforce a certain standard. The authority may be either a group or a single person, and punishment may be carried out formally under a system of law or informally in other kinds of social settings such as within a family.

The punishment of the devil, a "son of the morning" was that he could not have a habitation or physical body, therefore he is angry and with those cast out with him make war and possess the bodies of men by taking them over and deluding them:
The punishment, however, of "Joe Sixpack" is that he will be separate and singly, a drone, in eternity in his saved condition, for his women will be taken from him, and more women than men will be saved into the Celestial Kingdom than men, for there are three heavens, and the sons of God shall gather many lone females to themselves, for they kept their second estate, saith the Lord.
"We came to this earth that we might have a body and present it pure before God in the celestial kingdom. The great principle of happiness consists in having a body. The devil has no body, and herein is his punishment. He is pleased when he can obtain the tabernacle of man, and when cast out by the Savior he asked to go into the herd of swine, showing that he would prefer a swine's body to having none. Now, in this world, mankind are naturally selfish, ambitious and striving to excel one above another; yet some are willing to build up others as well as themselves. So in the other world there are a variety of spirits. Some seek to excel. And this was the case with Lucifer when he fell. He sought for things which were unlawful. Hence he was sent down, and it is said he drew many away with him; and the greatness of his punishment is that he shall not have a tabernacle. This is his punishment. So the devil, thinking to thwart the decree of God, by going up and down in the earth, seeking whom he may destroy-any person that he can find that will yield to him, he will bind him, and take possession of the body and reign there, ...(Joseph Smith)

Today's WatchDOGS Radio Program: Privilege vs Punishment.
Greg Strong will discuss the difference between privilege and punishment in the educational environment. There are two ways we have to motivate…punishment (authority-figure controlled) or privilege (peer-group supported). RF only deals in the privilege domain. RULES ARE FOR PRIVILEGING, NOT PUNISHING, in school and classroom environments.
When students are privileged for obeying rules, they are looking forward to a positive consequence. On the other hand, when rules are associated with a punishment, fear of a negative consequence is what motivates behavior, or what we think motivates behavior. Students overwhelmingly (100%) have chosen privilege as their motivation when given a choice. This study was conducted in 400 classes which represents over 800 peer groups that were given a choice. The privileges offered were earned by the peer groups and were either chatter breaks and/or working together.
Each week, WatchDOGS Radio host Keith Schumacher and co-host Chris Danenhauer discuss how this program is impacting families and schools across our nation and in three foreign countries.
