This episode features a discussion with author and psychotherapist Reverend Lea Chapin – who is also a bona fide Channeler (psychic) who has worked with the FBI and authored several books including The Twelve Mastery Teachings of Christ. In this conversation she shares uplifting interventions from her book as well as discusses with Dr. Kemp the fears and doubts people have about spiritual gifts and psychics. Differences are then shared between tapping into one’s “own inner knowing” versus channeled information from a channel or psychic. The discussion also explores Rev. Lea's personal journey from victim to victor with regard to forgiving childhood abuse, and how she triumphantly became a healer using traditional remedies along with alternative and holistic healing modalities that led to her uncovering her spiritual gifts.

We’ve all noticed the proliferation of mental health diagnoses, and problems that need to be treated in recent years. Consider this possibility: We’re not having more mental illness; we’re having spiritual breakthroughs that are being mischaracterized because they’re being seen through the lens of “illness.” Holistic psychotherapist Dr. Amelia Kemp, Ph.D, LMHC, has written a revolutionary book that does for mental health what Louise Hay's 1984 groundbreaking book :You Can Heal Your Body" did for the physical. Kemp's From Psychotherapy to Sacretherapy® -- Alternative Holistic Descriptions and Healing Processes for 170 Mental and Emotional Diagnoses Worldwide reexamines 170 conditions within a spiritual context, allowing people to be “different” without being seen as “ill.” She says one out of 4 people living today think they’re crazy. Perhaps they’re not! Listen to Dr. Kemp this week and come to your own conclusions. Click this link to visit Dr. Kemp's site.

This episode features a wonderful discussion with fellow Author and Psychotherapist Ilene Dillon, author of The ABC’s of Emotion and 10 other books that discuss the role of emotions and how what we feel affects our sense of well-being. This discussion covers the emotions of anger, self-love, loneliness and how emotions can even affect and transmute physical conditions like cancer. Ilene’s book is for both adults that have trouble soothing their 'inner child" as well as parents needing to teach their kids how to handle the ABC's of Emotion. Her book also does a fantastic job of fortifying Dr. Kemp’s Sacretherapy® process of how thinking and thoughts are what trigger our emotions and offers suggestions on how to effectively shift your emotions in order to feel good and manifest the more peaceful and fulfilling life you want to live.

Dr. Laurie Nadel specializes in helping people who are struggling with fears that prevent them from moving forward. Whether fear presents as performance anxiety that makes it impossible to speak in public or to function in daily settings, a debilitating phobia, or flashbacks to a traumatic, life-shattering event, Dr. Nadel's practice is focused on providing support, insight, and effective interventions that give the patient strategies and tools to overcome those fears relatively quickly, so that they can be replaced by calm, confidence, and a sense of well-being.
Her mission is to offer short-term, goal-oriented, patient-focused therapy with personal attention and quality care. For those who have tried traditional psychotherapy, Dr. Nadel offers a new, caring approach to resolving internal conflicts and issues that have not responded well to previous treatments. A therapeutic relationship needs to be a safe place to express concerns that are so deeply held that the individual may even have difficulty using verbal description to describe his or her situation. The unconscious mind reveals itself through subtle muscle movements, pulses, and changes in breathing. A specialist in the physiology of non-verbal communication, Dr. Nadel knows how to sit with the patient's Unconscious (or subconscious) mind in a reassuring way to create a profound rapport that facilitates the unburdening process.
In private practice since 1991, she works collaboratively with psychiatrists, M.D.'s, and psychologists to create a supportive team for each patient. She accepts referrals from M.D.'s, nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists, and attorneys who are seeking professional help for their patients and clients. Dr. Nadel has been an expert witness in a PTSD case in the U.S. Disctrict Court for the Southern District of New York.
Dr. Chaps reports on these important issues:
* Governor Mike Huckabee declares that he is running for President.
* The Supreme Court declines to help Christian psychotherapists.
* Artists will meet again in Texas after the shooting of two terrorists.
Life Lessons welcomes author Marty Babits debuting I'm Not A Mind Reader: Using The Power Of Three-Dimensional Communication For A Better Relationship
Every couple confronts issues of communication and too often, because they lack a good foundation, they are communicating in a way that places blame and ultimately damages trust. If addressed in time, effective lines of communication can be opened and the relationship can be saved. As a relationship therapist Marty Babits provides couples with the necessary tools to effectively communicate, which he calls "three-dimensional communication.” Babits' emphasis on the triad of dimensional communication helps to get couples back on track and develop a more efficient way of communicating with one another.
Babits breaks down the different levels of communication starting with dimension one, which is the literal meaning of what is being communicated. The second dimension is the emotional undertone of the message. The third dimension is the most important because it allows the couple to reflect on what has been said, and consider the meaning behind the other two dimensions in a healthy way. There are many benefits of an activated third dimension such as: mitigating stress, toning down anger, keeping small problems in perspective, and preventing small mishaps from causing ruptures in trust.
Before the concept of three dimensional communication is explained, Babits provides a pre-quiz so that couples can discover what their "three-dimensionality” quotient is.
About the Author
Marty Babits is the Co-Director of FACTS (Family and Couples Treatment Service), a division of the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, one of the oldest and most respected training and treatment resources in Manhattan, chartered by the NYS Board of Regents.
