    Conservative Refuge Radio 2-16-2015

    in Politics Conservative

    On tonight's show:

With the General Assembly considering a repeal of the "Rain Tax", Anne Arundel leaders propose a repeal in their own county but a Republican may be the one to keep this from happening.  We'll discuss.

The illness of a well-respected Annapolis figure is being exploited by the pro suicide movement to promote their death agenda in Maryland. We will have an extended discussion of an issue we have been warning for months would be coming to the fore.

Contrary to what you may hear, not every legislator in Annapolis in moving to legalize marijuana.  Some bi-partisan efforts are underway to responsibility deal with the failures of last year's decriminalization bill. We'll share those proposals and why they are a good idea.

With the season's first significant snow expected, we discuss the most annoying things about winter driving.

What's The Point When Nothing Changes? The DC Soap Opera

    in Politics Conservative

Ahhhhh .... fresh of a good night's rest, I rolled out of bed, cranked up my computer and, just like a soap opera you've missed for a week, not much has changed.

The Smurfs occupy the White House and a sustaining minority in both the House and Senate. This gives them the veto and the Filibuster. The Elmos hold a substantial majority in both congressional chambers giving them agenda control and the ability to bring any bills to a vote and even pass most of them. Getting those bills signed or overriding a veto is an entirely different matter and a veritable impossibility.

Neither side seems willing to compromise much so what is the point? Why pass bills that have no chance of being inked by the prez? Why make presidential proposals that have no chance of seeing the light of day?

From the President's $4 trillion Budget dreams to the Elmos vision of a world without Obamacare, futility seems bountiful and needs to be addressed.

Also, Iran and John Kerry are just driving me nuts so we will jump into their centrifuge once again.

All of this and more on Tonight's episode of Jump Right In ..... Remember, In my pond EVERYONE swims at their own risk ... See? Nothing ever changes.

President Obama Fiscal Year 2016 Budget

    in Politics

President Barack Obama called for sweeping tax increases Monday in a budget proposal that dropped any quest for fiscal grand bargains with Congress, but also laid out narrower domestic priorities that may appeal to Republicans. His proposal for more than $1 trillion in new tax measures over the coming decade was immediately declared a nonstarter by Republicans, who also criticized the plan’s lack of new measures to curtail entitlement spending, the biggest contributor to federal deficits, his request for a 4.5% increase in military spending.WSJ

The Treasury Department estimates that the proposals would raise $210 billion over ten
years by increasing the top tax rate on longterm capital gains from 24.2 percent to 28 percent and taxing unrealized capital gains at death. A new financial fee would raise another $110 billion.Part of that revenue would finance a package of middleclass tax cuts ($175 billion) and retargeted education tax benefits would cost about $50 billion. In addition, some of the revenue would finance new spending initiatives for early childhood education and community college,
    which are not considered here.
