Great Loop Radio: Proposed Law Would Eliminate Many Anchorages in Florida

    in Travel

Join us for important up-to-date information on the attempts in Florida to restrict anchoring!

Florida Senate Bill 1548 titled “An Act Related to Vessel Safety”, addresses many valid safety issues related to the anchoring of derelict boats.  However, it also contains controversial proposals limiting boaters’ ability to anchor in areas “within 200 feet of developed waterfront property” from one hour past sunset until one hour before sunrise.

The Seven Seas Cruising Association leads a team that includes AGLCA, BoatUS and the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) in the fight against pending restrictions on the right to anchor in Florida.

Joining us to talk about SSCA and their efforts in Florida is Dave Skolnick. Dave is a naval architect and marine engineer, a communications professional, and the immediate Past President of SSCA. He works as a member of the SSCA Concerned Cruisers' Committee (CCC) to support cruisers' rights. Dave owns Auspicious Works in Annapolis, Maryland providing communications and navigation equipment services and delivery support to cruisers.

We'll also be joined by David Doyle, an AGLCA member who is a waterfront landowner in Florida.  He'll share his opinion on the issue.

New Cybercrime Crackdown Could Backfire And Criminalize Security Professionals

    in Technology

Good hackers--aka security researchers--are worried about the possible legal and professional ramifications of President Obama's new proposed crackdown on cyber criminals. Their concern:  the administration's legislative proposals to tighten the screws on black hats could backfire and instead criminalize the good guys fighting the good fight to identify cybercrime activity and root out security weaknesses before the bad guys do.

Jeremiah Grossman, founder and CTO of WhiteHat Security, and Harley Geiger, advocacy director and senior counsel at the Center for Democracy & Technology, will join Dark Reading Radio to explore whether the administration's legislative proposals can actually stop the bad guys and protect victim organizations as intended, and how they could inadvertently render penetration testing, vulnerability reporting, and other key security research activity illegal.

Fiscal responsibility minus the responsibility equals disaster!

    in Politics Conservative

    Live at 8AM-10AM EST Monday-Friday

Name me one politico who has ever stated, "I do not believe in fiscal responsibility." If there has been anyone who has openly made that statement  we have found the first honest politician (well, at least when it comes to fiscal matters).

Part of every campaign are pronouncements of being a "fiscal conservative".  My first question for all politicos is "What does fiscal responsibility mean?" or "How when you bring fiscal responsibilty to the State of South Carolina or the Federal Budget?" Instant stammering and I will study comments are regurgitated.

South Carolina State Treasurer Curtis Loftis, Jr. will be joining us as we gather "In the Pickle Barrel" to discuss fiscal responsibility in light of the various proposals being brought before the SC Legislature. In addition, we will attempt to attach a real definition to the term "Fiscal Responsibility".

You can join in the conversation live by calling in at 855-236-2486 or create your own conversation in the online ChatRoom.

President Obama's Top 10 Constitutional Violations Of 2013

    in Politics Conservative

Regarding bypassing Congress, doing away with checks and balances, fifty-eight percent of Democrats think the president should take action alone if Congress does not approve his proposals. Eighteen percent of Republicans and 39 percent of voters not affiliated with either major party (independents) think similarly. This is the thought process we've come to expect from Democrats, but any percentage above zero from Republicans is surprising. They must have all been RINOs.

Obama's questionably legal action is bad enough. But that's not the worst of it, not by a long shot. It seems that a plurality of U.S. Democrats (and, sadly) some Republicans and independents think as Obama does. They think, despite the U.S. Constitution, that Obama should be able to do anything he wants if he thinks "it's the right thing to do."
