Reis e Sacerdotes - Kings and Priests

    in Christianity

    E cantavam um novo cântico, dizendo: Digno és de tomar o livro, e de abrir os seus selos; porque foste morto, e com o teu sangue nos compraste para Deus de toda a tribo, e língua, e povo, e nação;
E para o nosso Deus nos fizeste reis e sacerdotes; e reinaremos sobre a terra.
    Apocalipse 5:9-10
Segunda feira, 3 de Novembro, 22h Portugal (18h Brasília)

    And they sang a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals; for thou wast slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God in every tribe and tongue and people and nation;
And to our God hast made us kings and priests; and we shall reign on the earth.

Jewish Roots - Kings And Priests

    in Spirituality

    Kings and Priests

Everybody wants to be treated with respect.

We live in an age when many people either have a poor self image or need a healthy dose of self-affirmation, and Christians aren't exempt. So it's good to know that the Good Book provides for this. The ancient Israelites were told by God that they were to be a nation of kings and priests. What did that mean then for the Jews, and what does it mean now for the Christians? Psychologists tell us that the way you regard yourself is the way others will regard you as well, and largely determines the way you'll be treated in life. This Thursday we'll talk about this. So tune in and take notes! Your host: Rev. Rick Anderson, on "Jewish Roots" each Thursday at 9:30 to 10:30 pm EST. Listen LIVE through Twitter, LinkedIn, GooglePlus and Facebook/com/fougcrew. To call with a question or comment: 347-324-5759. To access Rev. Anderson's website: http://scripturesdramatized.com .

    Levites Exempted (Numbers 1:47-54)

    in Christianity

The Levites, however, were not numbered among them by their fathers’ tribe. For the Lord had spoken to Moses, saying, “Only the tribe of Levi you shall not number, nor shall you take their census among the sons of Israel. But you shall appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony, and over all its furnishings and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings, and they shall take care of it; they shall also camp around the tabernacle. So when the tabernacle is to set out, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle encamps, the Levites shall set it up. But the layman who comes near shall be put to death. The sons of Israel shall camp, each man by his own camp, and each man by his own standard, according to their armies. But the Levites shall camp around the tabernacle of the testimony, so that there will be no wrath on the congregation of the sons of Israel. So the Levites shall keep charge of the tabernacle of the testimony.” Thus the sons of Israel did; according to all which the Lord had commanded Moses, so they did.

Levites were assistants to the Aaronic priests, they exercised an auxiliary ministry, caring for the tabernacle. After the ark was brought to Jerusalem by David their role was reordered and extended.

They were reconsecrated during the reforms of Josiah and Hezekiah and recommissioned by Ezra and Nehemiah when the Israelites returned from captivity. The Levites are to transport, erect, and guard the tabernacle. The Gershonite branch of the Levites are to care for the coverings and curtains of the tabernacle. The Kohathite branch of the Levites are to care for the furnishings of the sanctuary. The Merarite branch of the Levites are to care for the frames of the tabernacle. The Levites are to have an auxiliary ministry. The Levites are set apart for their ministry. The Levites period of service was between the ages of...

Seventy Not to be High Priests

    in Religion

"The Church shall never be again taken from the earth because there will always be one elder to stir the rest up to repentance." Brigham Young. Journal of Discourses.

...the devil through false administrators in the Church, has altered vital parts or portions to the salvation of mankind, the plan of salvation as revealed from heaven, and which cannot be changed, saith the Lord, but must remain the same on all the worlds, and through all time and throughout all eternity. After I had received my first two written revelations, I got myself down again upon my knees and inquired of my God concerning what authority I possessed to dictate the affairs of the Kingdom of God upon the earth, by ordination, whereupon I was almost picked up from off my feet and led over to my bookshelf whereupon I was commanded by the Spirit to pick the book, Discourses of Brigham Young from off the shelf, and I opened it right to the page and my eyes fell first upon the paragraph spoken by Brigham Young in which the words sprang out at me:‘‘He stated that the Seventies are ordained apostles, and when they go forth into the ministry they are sent with power to build up the kingdom in all the world and consequently have power to ordain High Priests and also to ordain and organize a High Council." Discourse of Brigham Young; History of Brigham Young Manuscript; Dec 14, 1845.As I read these words my frame was filled with such power and glory that I felt to whoop and shout for the joy and power of it, yea my God, the Holy One of Israel, for he hath revealed unto me the truth and hath he not set me free to build up his kingdom? Even so, judge ye...

Faith Friday - Sons of Thunder, Not Your Stereotypical Priests!

    in Religion

Chad Van Hoose and his teammates are not your stereotypical priests. They work hard, pray hard, and PLAY hard! Because they live exciting yet wholesome lives, they are great role models for their charity, NET Ministries, which touches the lives of young people. And they're ready to take the American Bible Challenge as team Sons of Thunder!

Fridays, we talk all things faith, including faith-based current events (and sometimes even that dreaded political overlap, YIKES!)

Have you had your healthy dose of reality lately?

There are always at least two sides to every story. Have you ever wondered how someone, who saw the same thing you did, walked away telling a vastly different story? Which version was correct? Which one was the REAL story? Actually, both are! It’s just a matter of perspective.

Joe takes the issues… especially the controversial issues (politics, prejudice, religion, illegal immigration)… and brings in people from different sides to share their viewpoint. This is definitely not a fluff piece. And while no one is attacked, the questions are hard-hitting.

But the conversation is always respectful and you’re sure to learn something new, even if you don’t agree!

If you’ve always wondered how the “other side” thinks and how they’ve arrived at their “stand”, then this is the show for you!

It’s not the right side, it’s not the wrong side, but the REAL side of the issues!

    Prayer of Confession (Ezra 9:5-15)

    in Christianity

But at the evening offering I arose from my humiliation, even with my garment and my robe torn, and I fell on my knees and stretched out my hands to the Lord my God; and I said, “O my God, I am ashamed and embarrassed to lift up my face to You, my God, for our iniquities have risen above our heads and our guilt has grown even to the heavens.

Since the days of our fathers to this day we have been in great guilt, and on account of our iniquities we, our kings and our priests have been given into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity and to plunder and to open shame, as it is this day.

But now for a brief moment grace has been shown from the Lord our God, to leave us an escaped remnant and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and grant us a little reviving in our bondage.

For we are slaves; yet in our bondage our God has not forsaken us, but has extended lovingkindness to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us reviving to raise up the house of our God, to restore its ruins and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.

“Now, our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken Your commandments, which You have commanded by Your servants the prophets, saying, ‘The land which you are entering to possess is an unclean land with the uncleanness of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations which have filled it from end to end and with their impurity.

So now do not give your daughters to their sons nor take their daughters to your sons, and never seek their peace or their prosperity, that you may be strong and eat the good things of the land and leave it as an inheritance to your sons forever.’

After all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and our great guilt, since You our God have requited us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us an escaped remnant as this, shall we again...
