How do you become a mental health advocate? How do you break down stigma surrounding mental illness? How do you start to heal, love, and accept yourself with a mental illness?
SHARE YOUR STORY!
Mental illness makes us feel SO alone sometimes. What you don't know is that hundreds of thousands of people are feeling the same way that you do with some of the same symptoms! There is so much healing and power in connecting with individuals who have experienced mental illness. You don't ever have to be or feel alone with your experience.
Also, you don't have to have a mental illness to be an advocate! Do you support better care for mental health? Do you have empathy and compassion for the topic of mental health? Speak up and let people know you support others in their mental illness challenges and you will be an advocate as well!
Ro Vitale and Chrissie Hodges, both advocates for mental health share their experiences of how powerful sharing their personal stories changed their lives and others.
Thank you for the support and courage to share your own journey!
Mental illness is rough on relationships of any kind, especially on couples. “The stress level often stretches into a crisis mode, in which managing the illness becomes, for all intents and purposes, the sole function of the relationship.”
“The mental illness has a way of directing the functionality and dynamic of the relationship, rather than the individuals involved. Nevertheless we have to remember that the people involved in the relationship have the ultimate control.
Join me, MSKeepItMoving and my special cohost, Michael “QuietStorm” Walton as we discuss the strain Mental Illness can put on your relationships. Get some tips on how you can maintain a healthy relationship rather than being consumed and controlled by Mental Illness.

I have been hosting this show for almost 3 years, and have been unable to find anyone who will come on and openly discuss their experience with PTSD.
Join me today as I speak with Hillaire Phillips to talk about her experience with PTSD, how it manifests in her life and what she does to manage it.
Wondering What Happened to Your Body?
Wondering Why You are Still Sick?
On Monday, November 9, 2015 at 8 PM (eastern time) Dr. Jess Armine will explain how stress creates illness. It's called the "Cell Danger Response".
We have always known that very stressors can create illness in the human body and, frankly, we have given it "lip service".
Last week Dr. Jess Armine and Shawn Bean attended SHEICON2015 given by Dr. Ben Lynch. Dr. Jess had the honor of boing o0ne of the speakers. The main feature in the entire seminar was the cell danger response and its relationship to mitochondrial dysfunction as well as the degradation of all your bodily processes.
In other words, the very basis of disease and illness!
Understanding the cell danger response is the path to healing. This upcoming Monday Dr. Jess Armine will, in his usual manner, make this complex concept easy to understand and fun! (trust me, it wasn't easy) :-)
Join us and learn! They'll be plenty of time for questions and answers. Dr. Armine will create a PowerPoint for everyone to follow along.
We promised you cutting edge research and we are delivering! See you then!

Who is Ashley Smith? Ashley Smith is a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS), health blogger, mental health advocate, speaker, and non-fiction author. Ashley Smith was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 2007 after stealing a military truck and leading the police on a high speed chase -- a joy ride that landed her in jail.
"I heard voices. I saw images of people following me that scared me. I thought my life was in danger,"
After receiving treatment for her illness and learning to cope through medication and a strong support system, Smith decided to draw awareness to stereotypes by beginning her own nonprofit, "Embracing My Mind."
Ashley Smith's book "What's on my Mind is available on Amazon. (she has received great reviews)
Ashley wrote her book according to the format of the NAMI In Our Own Voice presentation where people share their own experiences with their mental health problems. Ashley's experience is very unique and she is able to clearly describe what happened to her, what she experienced (in terms of her symptoms), how her family supported her, and how she was able to get treatment and move on with her life.
Please take the time and visit Ashley's blog- http://overcomingschizophrenia.blogspot.com/
Let's take the time to educate ourselves so that we can help remove the shame and embarrasement that's attached to Mental Health Illness.
