The Business of Skin Care
The average life span of any type of salon is pretty short. So it takes some pretty savvy business smarts to have a successful skin care salon.
Justin interviews Elizabeth Burr, owner of the very successful skin care salon, Elizabeth Skin Care in Studio City, California.
Elizabeth has been in business for almost 20 years and has loved every minute. But she started her business out of very unique needs.
"I was a successful actress for many years until I developed adult onset acne while on a soap opera. Having acne is humiliating enough, but going through it on TV with producers and fans was devastating.
Despite the efforts of several doctors, nothing cleared my skin until an esthetician treated me. She gave me a series of peels in her salon and changed my home care routine. I was embarrassed about my appearance before she cleared me up. And when she did, it changed my life. Once my skin was clear again I said, “I want to do this!” Since then I have been happy educating myself and my clients as we practice great skin care together."

Beauty Tips Body once a week, use a body exfoliater to get a smoother shave. Don't throw away an ineffective conditioner use it to shave your legs. Drink hot water with lemon to make your teeth whiter each day. Make your own body scrub by mixing olive oil with kosher salt.
Put your favorite body splash in the fridge. It feels great to put it on when you've been out in the heat. Exfoliate with a sugar scrub before shaving and apply lotion immediately after for a super smooth, long-lasting shave.

Drastic Steps from Skin Care to Grateful Gatherings
Venus DeMarco grew up in a military family so I lived all over the United States, including Japan and Europe. This life experience gave me the ability to look outside the box, when faced with lifechanging decisions. I was in the skin care industry and a lisenced Esthetician for 35 years. I have owned Spa's and skincare clinics in Calif. Seattle Wa, Sunvalley Id, and also Austin Tx which I call home. Have won numerous awards in my field from the Golden Lily to best facial in Austin from 2008 thru 2010. My expertise in the skincare field was looking at the total picture when working with clients, not just the outside but internally as well. Because of that I laways got to the root of the problem not just the symptom.
K. C. Matheson is a licensed, ASID interior designer emeritus. Had an interior design business in Japan and in 3 states. My background is in design and promotion. Worked as a Producer/Coordinator for a Japanese company where I created businesses for them in their famous tourist area. Took a job for 3 years to re-develop New Braunfels' downtown area. Just started Grateful Stone, LLC (TM) where we manufacture beautiful handcrafted items for everyone to remind them to be grateful. This business has my heart and passion. Doing something wonderful as well as creating business. We host Grateful Gatherings (TM) where we speak on topics involving gratitude including how gratitude affects the bottom line. We have interactive exercises for all ages so that they can experience gratitude. We also private label stone pieces for companies to pay gratitude forward for their customers, vendors and employees. I have been awarded the Kansai Design Award in Kobe, Japan, Woman of Distinction Award in Richmond, Tx., the Governor's Yellow Rose of Texas Award, New Braunfels' Arts Award, Fabulous Face of Ft. Bend Award.
