    Selling Value

    in Business

Denise Griffitts Interviews Don Hutson: The Global Expert on Sales & Negotiations.

At age 17 a young Don Hutson helped his dad selling houses in a brand new subdivision outside of Memphis, Tennessee.  Don had a problem.  As a skinny teenager, he needed to wear a suit, to appear older and more professional.  He thought adding a hat to the look would do the trick.  And so launched a legendary sales career for Don Hutson.  It was in that year he and his dad sold 76 houses, and the rest is history.

Although his plan was to succeed his mother and father to get his degree at their alma mater, fate had a different plan, and that twist of fate was the key to Don Hutson’s incredible journey.  He worked his way through the University of Memphis, graduating with a degree in Sales, the only one in America at that time.

Don went on to become the #1 salesperson in a national training organization. He established his own training firm and was soon in demand as a professional speaker.

Don has been recognized with many honors, most recently the National Speakers Association’s “Master of Influence” Award.  He shares this recognition with leaders that include Ken Blanchard, Jack Kemp, Zig Ziglar and Norman Vincent Peale.  Don is the author of 14 books, including his latest, Selling Value: Key Principle of Value-Based Selling, and his two Wall Street Journal and New York Times best sellers, The One Minute Entrepreneur: the Secret to Creating and Sustaining a Successful Business and the One Minute Negotiator: Simple Steps to Reach Better Agreements.

Selling in a Skirt with Judy Hoberman Radio

    in Women

Selling in a Skirt with Judy Hoberman Radio with her guest Brittany Walters-Bearden & Jasmine Powers:

I have worked with clients from a wide variety of non-profit and for-profit ventures, so I feel that that experience has made it possible for me to be more creative with account planning for current clients. I also work closely with a sales trainer to ensure that my clients have a saleable message and have the proper infrastructure and skills on the back end to make the most of their PR. I recognize that PR is one piece of a very big puzzle, so getting all of those pieces to work together is key. Of course, it involves clients wanting my advice on pieces of their brand or business that isn't strictly in the realm of public relations, which isn't always the case (sometimes people aren't interested in hearing about their broken sales process or improving their prospecting on LinkedIn). It also helps strategic PR to know how to help someone define their niche (again, if it doesn't scare them to tell them their market can't be "everyone"-- people have to want strategic PR for it to work).

I am open to advice and input, whether it is from people who work for me or editors and producers, so I am constantly learning, improving, and adapting. I think not always believing that you know everything is the key to knowing everything (eventually).

Jasmine Powers of Ambitious Diva Company, a marketing agency and online training community for women who are transformational coaches, sellers of consumer goods, and B2B service providers. My business is an marketing and educational resource and I choose it because I want to enable women to be self sufficient and care for their families, and entrepreneurship is one way to do it.
