World Footprints takes you on an exciting journey through Montana’s Missouri River Country as we go digging for dinosaurs and gold. First, we’ll go in search of Carl the Dinosaur with the help of Dave Trexler and Sue Frary of the Great Plains Dinosaur Museum and Field Station as they take us digging for dinosaur bones. We’ll introduce you to Brenda Koss, whose family-owned ranch has produced some major dinosaur fossils, including one discovered by her daughter Kennedy. Then it’s off to Zortman, an interesting gold rush era town nestled in Montana’s Little Rocky Mountains that’s filled with lot of character and characters alike, and we’ll learn about this quirky place from one of the town’s resident entrepreneurs, John Kalal.
Movie Addict HQ celebrates the 75th Anniversary of Gone with the Wind, one of the most successful films of all time. Film historian James Colt Harrison and Classic Film Guide founder Diana Saenger plan to join the festivities. Plus, Turner Classic Movies host Robert Osborne has been invited to call in. Listeners will also hear a clip from Cammie King Conlon's interview about playing Rhett and Scarlett's doomed daughter, Bonnie Blue Butler.
Gone with the Wind, released in 1939, received 10 Oscars. It has been screened millions of times throughout the world. Fans of this beloved epic continue to celebrate the movie at various GWTW conventions. To honor this important anniversary, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) has teamed up with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Fathom Events and The Harry Ransom Center for a multi-tiered celebration that includes a new Blu-ray release, screenings at over 600 theaters, an exhibit and new book on the making of the film, and a special screening of the movie on Turner Classic Movies. These activities are scheduled for the last part of September and early October.
The late Cammie King Conlon, author of Bonnie Blue Butler: A Gone with the Wind Memoir, visited Movie Addict HQ four years ago to discuss her delightful book, which is filled with fascinating inside information concerning what happened on and off the set, including what it was like to work with Clark Gable and director Victor Fleming. Movie fans should enjoy hearing about these experiences in the clip from her terrific interview.
It's indie pop week for Canadian Musician Radio, and we're reaching from sea to sea for this one. From BC, we've got both Prairie Cat and Shimming Stars, and then from PEI, we've got Coyote. We'll speak with all three about their recent and upcoming releases and see where the similarities and differences lie as far as their approach to writing, performing, and building a career in music.
The brainchild of frontman and pricipal songwriter Cary Pratt, Prairie Cat is fresh off the release of Who Knows Where To Begin? The touring band features a few familiar faces from the west coast music community and we'll chat with Cary about his songs and how they come to life on the stage.
As for Shimmering Stars, they're even fresher off the release of their second and latest LP, Bedrooms of the Nation. The album integrates elements from across the pop, noise, punk, and experimental spectrums - The Pixies, Flipper, Yo La Tengo, Women, and Nirvana running head into The Beach Boys, Phil Spector, and 50s/60s AM radio.
Finally, the cats in Coyote have their first full-length dropping in the coming weeks, and in addition to the unique sound they've crafted, we'll speak about their adventures as a band thus far - which most recently included the theft and recovery of close to $10,000 worth of musical equipment.

THE HAND OF OUR GOD IS UPON US DOING A LIFE CHANGE THAT WILL BE EVIDENT AS WE PROCEED INTO 2015-ALL THINGS ARE BEING MADE NEW!
Dozens of temporary tax breaks, including big ones for business research, wind power and foreign profits, were renewed by the U.S. Senate recently, putting to rest worries that further delays in dealing with the so-called tax extenders could impact the approaching tax-filing season.
Today we are speaking with Jim Wilhelm, a Director with SC&H Group, more about this topic, which is currently dominating the headlines these days.
Matthew 6:45 And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.
46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.
47 And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.
48 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
49 But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:.....
Talking all things faith, including faith-based current events (and sometimes even that dreaded political overlap, YIKES!) Tune in!
Imagine that you are standing in front of a flagpole with your eyes closed. There is a flag flying in the wind. The person next to you asks, "Will you pledge allegiance to this flag?" What will you answer? You will most likely answer that you can't pledge allegiance to the flag until you open your eyes and identify which country the flag stands for. You can't give your oath to defend that country and to live under its rules until you know which country it is. To do so would be foolishness. Similarly, how can you give allegiance to an elohim (g_d) whose name you do not know?
“As a man who grew up Catholic and was lost in New Age theology for 20 years, I can say that I was never taught that G_d has a name and that He wants it known and proclaimed,” says Peter Miller-Russo who, along with his wife Linda, is a non-denominational Christian. They co-authored “Proclaim His Holy Name: Uncovering YEHOVAH’s Will for His Name,” (www.proclaimhisholyname.org).
Linda continues, “Believing that all religions worship the same Creator may sound nice and politically correct, but in reality the Bible is explicit. Not everyone worships the one true Creator.”
“Throughout the Hebrew Tanakh (the Christians’ ‘Old Testament’) as well as the Christian New Testament, the Bible names YEHOVAH as humankind’s one true Creator. In fact Exodus 3:15 clearly states what the Creator’s name is. Scriptures of the other major world religions simply do use YEHOVAH’s name for their creator,” Peter says.
