Love: A Universal Language, A Life Necessity

    in Christianity

Durin the month of March, I am being led by the Holy Spirit in the topics I will teach! Tonight I will share quotes and scriptures on love. Love is a necessity in life! We need it to be healthy and survive just like we need air to breathe and water to drink, but despite the. And despite the necessity of love, there is not enough love or enough displays of love in our world today!

Love is a universal language not constrained by race, religion, socioeconomic status, position or title. Love is love! Tonight I am hoping to stir up the passion and power of love as I read words that reflect this action word. Get your pen handy, and your heart ready to receive what we will pour into you on tonight. We will share a brief teaching on family love, brotherly love, erotic love and sacrificial love. Talk with then!

    The Power of Words

    in Culture

Words are universal agents. They are eternal tools invested with monumental power and unfathomable consequences. They are the building blocks with which we construct language structures or castles for men and generations to live in. They are the tools by which we create enduring legacy for the world, powerful organs by which we construct universalizing narratives connecting varied cultures and people groups. The word, whether written or spoken, is the real power that rules the world.

    -  Moses Oludele Idowu -

We'll talk about the power of words and how to awaken the genius of the Griot in all of us.

HOTEP KENYATTA: Language is a tool of oppression/freedom

    in Education

Hotep Kenyatta (Dr Shaka Blaka) speaks re:  Language can be a tool of oppression. Clearly few people want to connect themselves to Africa? Why.  Because from the 7th century AD onwards, powerful scholars took a passage from Jewish ancient holy texts and misrepresented it as though "dark skin is a curse from God, who cursed Noah's son Ham for seeing his father naked and drunk, etc"     Since then, there have been various efforts to hide the black/african nature of all civilization/humanity, and language has not been spared the racists/white nationalists sword of destruction.  (NOTE: Let's also remember that an ancient African, or Native South American language may be represented in Latin Script (letters, characters) but that this never means that the original language is Latin/Roman. Only the writing style used to represent the ancient African, etc sounds/spoken language.  People get this confused so often, and brainwashing is hard to fix when people don't know they're brainwashed...!

Also listen in for how the concept of ETYMOLOGY is used in racist way.

power of perception with writer Tannis Laidlaw

    in Spirituality

    Bio for Tannis Laidlaw

Tannis was born in Canada then emigrated to New Zealand to do various degrees in Psychology/Psychiatry. She started writing early (a soppy poem published in her High School Yearbook) but quickly turned to academic writing. Some sixty publications on, she began the fun of writing fiction.

In the meantime, she worked as an OT, a psychologist or a researcher in large mental hospitals or universities, in community psychiatry, in forensic psychology, and in private practice.

Somehow she accumulated eight novels on her hard drive before she thought some might be publishable. Recently her agent has found her a publisher, and she now has a contract to write two murder mysteries. She published PUMPKIN EATER with a small NZ publisher, then self-published BYE BABY BUNTING and recently HALF TRUTHS AND WHOLE LIES.

PUMPKIN EATER is the story of the aftermath of a woman who snapped, a woman who was both physically and emotionally abused in the past, who broke away from her awful husband by throwing him down the stairs leaving him in a pool of blood, then escaping. Great fun to write!

BYE BABY BUNTING centres around a young university student who becomes an ‘unwed mother’, is pressured to give up her baby for adoption, then steals her back again. Like PUMPKIN EATER, this is a psychological thriller.

HALF TRUTHS AND WHOLE LIES takes place in an English medical school where our protagonist has been head-hunted to lead a research team. She encounters a bully for a boss, a woman who will stop at nothing to gain the prestige she wants. Workplace bullies have long fascinated Tannis…

She also wrote and published CUT THE CARBS, CUT THE GUT, a review, put into layman’s language, of the science behind a largely unacknowledged diet for health and weight loss.
