Why are progressives always playing defense while conservatives play offense? We always have to stop things like the Keystone pipeline, Citizens United, the Trans Pacific Partnership, and the end of net neutrality rather than advance progressive reforms. Well there is the business of administering progressive organizations. It requires goal-setting, strategies, organization, performance measures, and marketing – just like a business – to be effective using our meager resources. Learn some of the mistakes many progressive organizations make while trying to implement populist changes. Jeanene Loudon of the Coffee Party USA and I brainstorm the topic.

What are these issues and what is behind them?
Climate change, it is now shoved in our faces.
NGOs, are they really what they say they are?
Republicans, Democrats, and the new populism.
Critical issues are what we need to be focusing on. It is time to leave those behind who have not seen the ball since the kickoff.
Boston Councilor Tito Jackson likes to call himself Man of Action. That's fair enough. He is a do-gooder in the populist/progressive mold.
We'll start with the Commission on the Status of Black Men and Boys in Boston, which he proposed in Council. It will deal with the tough, intertwined problems including violence, unemployment, drugs, and education. Tito is not one to wave off a problem thinking it will take care of itself.
Since his election three years ago, he has been relentless in identifying problems, inclding their underlying causes. Then he proposes and works toward solutions.
In this episode of The Social Spitball Show, we are honored to welcome 3 guests, 1 running for House in Florida and 2 running to be a part of Congress from NC.
*First up (at approximately 7:05pm Eastern, or the top of the show) is Charles Messina, who is running for Florida State House in district 76. Messina is a Democrat with common sense & populist approaches to issues that matter to the constituents in Florida 76. He is pro-environment, pro-gun rights and looks to share his views on fracking and privitization in particular: http://leecountydems.org/candidates/charles-messina-state-house-75
*Our second guest is Will Stewart, who is running for U.S. Senate in the Democratic Primary with two other Democrats, one of which is incumbent U.S. Senator Kay Hagan. Stewart was born in Hawaii, came of age in Ohio, but calls North Carolina home now. He is a hardworking man of integrity who has literally helped build America as a carpenter. He is running, he says because, "Congress needs more members who prioritize the direction of society over personal gain...who care about others and are not out of touch with the daily struggle of ordinary people."
You can catch him at around 7:30pm Eastern: https://www.willcstewart.com/
*Our third guest is our third Democratic candidate for Congress in NC's 13th District. Arunava "Ron" Sanyal came to the U.S. nearly 40 years ago with seven and a half dollars and the "American Dream." He says he has achieved his American Dream and he believes anyone should have access their own, no matter how they came to call America home. Learn more about Ron after 8pm Eastern: http://sanyalforcongress.com/
As always, at the end of the show, we will open the discussion and invite all guests and listeners to participate. Let's get the conversation going...
An article in this week's The Nation, Will Phony Populists Hijack the Fight Against Inequality? discusses inequality and how politicians can use this buzzword to appeal to progressives, the 99%, even folks in the Occupy movement. What happens when fake progressives hijack the words, the language, the discussion of any issue is the cynical leave-behind of little action, futile measures, and in some cases, actual worsening of the problem with the supposed solutions.
Around the Inland Empire, I have heard numerous folks talk about how they are progressive. Today, I received an email from Tom Swann of Veterans for Peace, about a candidate for Assembly in the Palm Springs area who recently declared that she had always been a "Progressive Democrat." Tom noted, no, in fact, during a previous campaign over 10 years ago, she was the lowest vote-getter in a Republican primary.
As more people tire of the same old rhetoric and solutions offered by moderate Democrats and Republicans, they are beginning to realize that the bold solutions of the progressive movement are what has solved some great challenges before and could again. The phonies know this, and are cynical, political, and unprincipled enough to jump onto the bandwagon, happily wearing a wool cap, advocating bold solutions, pronouncing nearly socialist rhetoric and beyond, but actually pushing more of the same with all the usual suspects.
Dear Vecino, we will have to be very watchful for what big teeth they have.
Another anti-SSM type gets called out and the Senate socialist wants in. These trends are much more exciting and worthy of discussion than winger rants about talkshow hosts.
We'll discuss the ethics and legality of Brendan Eich crawling away from hsi Mozilla CEO post. Public records showed he gave a measly grand to uphold Prop 8. The board knew thatt, hired him anyway, but the Mozilla geeks, community and staff, screamed when they found out about it. He'd left on his own, but wingers rend their garments. They'd like all contributions to be in the dark too.
Back on the 2016 map, Bernie Sanders has 'em squirming. The self-ID'ed democratic socialist U.S. Senator from Vermont, a oner in Congress, is poised to announce a run for President. Yes, of these United States. Suppostion is that he'd do it to make Dems declare their principals rather than mealy mouthing. He'd want the party to show its populist/leftist colors.
Our side doesn't have the clown show in the center ring that the GOP does. A Sanders move coudl be just the right catalyst to liven up the race. In debates alone, his presence and plain talking would force a definable set of planks from each other candidate. Hmmmm.
Corruption in the US government is increasingly being recognized as the central issue among all the battles activists are waging against the corporatocracy. It is time to have a conversation about a strategy to go on the offensive instead of playing an endless game of defense against all the consequences of unchecked corporate power over the US government.
Aldous Tyler has been at the center of this fight in Madison, Wisconsin as host of TMI Radio. He ran in the Democratic primary for president in 2012 with a promise to support a constitutional amendment that would declare that money is not speech and corporations are not people with constitutional rights.
We talk about the Pledge to Amend campaign, how it differs from the co-opted Move to Amend version and why we fully expect that it will be the nucleus for a true populist movement for democracy in America and the world once Americans grasp its significance.
This show was rebroadcast on March 29 at 9 AM PST/ 12 PM EST on the Star Com Radio network.
Take Back America for the People is an educational nonprofit whose mission is to educate the American public on true costs of corporate control of the US government.
Know the truth and the truth will set us free.
Unabashed full-platform Republican Mark Fisher makes no bones about his Tea Party affiliation. He sees his small-government/free-market views as antidotes to decades of liberal MA politics. He figures that if the Dems were in charge, they own the errors and problems.
Join us as he defines the issues and what he'd do differently. Of course, we'll talk how he'd first beat presumptive GOP nominee Baker. He'll talk some of his populist proposals, like stopping turnpike tolls and lowering the MA income and sales taxes — both promised to voters many years ago. His has a hard line on undocumented immigrants. He has plans for adding jobs, attracting business, and lowering health-care costs.
Due to technical difficulties, this episode of "The Vito and Vito Show" will be rescheduled for Saturday, Febuary 22, 2014 at 8 PM.
Listen in to "The Vito and Vito Show" as Vito and Vito discuss Mayor de Blasio's attack on New York City Charter Schools. We'll get into how the Mayor and Governor Cuomo seem to be on different sides of the Progressive/Populist all-day Pre-K debate, the Ukrainian uprising and we'll take a closer look at the New York Gubernatorial race- who is the best challenger the GOP can put forward to take on incumbent Andrew Cuomo?
Lastly, our host's will fill you in on some local political news surrounding the Brooklyn Young Republicans, recapping their annual Executive Board Elections; along with CPAC Updates, including perspective interviews and keynote speakers.
The topics are fighting White genocide, populism, reaching the massses, reaching he less lemming like types, hardcore attitude, nurturing our hate, the fighting warrior spirit, strength through division, politics, Nation = people, Might is Right, Nietzsche & calls. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/might-is-right/2014/01/23/no-more-mr-nice-guy http://www.blogtalkradio.com/might-is-right/2014/01/23/no-more-mr-nice-guy-part-2 http://www.greatwhitedesert.org/ http://nifls
